03/14/1988 TRUSTEES OF THE EMPLOYEES' PENSION FUND MEETING March 14, 1988 The City Commission, meeting as the Board of Trustees of the Employees Pension Fund, met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, March 14, 1988, at 1:10 p.m., with the following members present: Rita Garvey Mayor/Commissioner Lee Regulski Commissioner Don Winner Commissioner William Nunamaker Commissioner Absent: James Berfield ViceMayor/Commissioner Also Present were: Joseph R. McFate, II Interim City Manager Milton A. Galbraith, Jr. City Attorney Cynthia Goudeau City Clerk ITEM #2  Minutes  Commissioner Regulski moved to approve the minutes of the February 29, 1988, meeting. `Motion` was duly seconded and `carried` unanimously. ITEM #3  Recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. a. `Request for Acceptance into Membership` The Interim City Manager presented the recommendation of the Advisory Committee to approve membership for 6 (six) employees listed below: `Name` `Classification` `Department` Katherine Cleary Rec. Leader/Aqua. Parks & Rec. Laura Burgess Staff Assistant I Parks & Rec. Joseph Assed Equipment Oper. I Pub Wks/Pub Ser James Ferro Police Recruit I Police William M. Tedder Accounting Clk I Utilities Julia M. Jablonski Personnel Asst. Personnel Commissioner Regulski moved to accept the recommendation of the Advisory Committee. `Motion` was duly seconded and `carried` unanimously. b. `Denial of Membership.` The Interim City Manager presented the recommendation of the Advisory Committee to deny membership based on physician's findings for 1 (one) employee listed below: `Name` `Classification` `Department` Corine Woodard Maint. Wrkr. I. Parks & Rec Commissioner Nunamaker moved to accept the recommendation of the Advisory Committee to deny membership. `Motion` was duly seconded and `carried` unanimously. ITEM #4 Other Business. It was reported all 3 unions have agreed to placing a question on the referendum regarding the 45 year age limitation. It was also requested that a question regarding establishing a $300/month pension be placed on the referendum. Consensus was to place both questions on a September referendum. John Nicholson, of the Pension Advisory Committee, asked that an Attorney General's opinion be requested regarding whether or not the City Commission can serve as Pension Trustee. Consensus to deny. Mr. Nicholson spoke to the Trustees regarding the Age Discrimination Employment Act as it relates to Police Officers. ITEM #5 Meeting adjourned at 1:34 p.m.
