The Work Session was called to order at 12:30 p.m. at City Hall.
1 — MPO Discussion on Gateway Express Project Update
Discussion ensued re new project manager's presentations to MPO (Metropolitan Planning
Organization) and PSTA (Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority). Re statement that no transit interaction
was planned, it was noted she was new to her position.
2 — MPO Report on Bus Bench — Commercial Entity
Concern was expressed that a commercial entity was installing bus benches that were not wheelchair
accessible but featured advertisements oriented to passing vehicular traffic.
3 —Video taping of ACPT Meetings
It was reported that video recordings of ACPT (Advisory Committee for Pinellas Transportation)
meetings were available.
3 —Other Business
Assistant City Manager Jill Silverboard said if construction of the Courtney Campbell trail connector
project, estimated to cost between $750,000 and $800,000, was expedited to coincide with Courtney
Campbell trail construction, Penny for Pinellas project funds would have to be moved forward from an
out year. In April, staff will ask the City Council which Penny for Pinellas project could be delayed or if
the trail connector could be financed from General Fund reserves. The City Manager said funds
borrowed from the Central Insurance fund must be repaid.
