2 - Review of US 19/Enterprise Road Project Review Meeting on February 28, 2014
The FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) Secretary, owners of US 19 businesses north of
Enterprise Road and in the Cypress Point Shopping Center, Councilmember Jonson, and the City
Manager attended the meeting; Sea Dog Brewing Company property was not represented. Zachary
Adams is FDOT's local contact. Utility work and small, unconnected sections of US 19 were complete.
The Secretary said he would look into egress difficulties; vehicles must make sharp right turns onto
US 19 where traffic moves at 50 to 70 mph. Incentives have been provided to complete the project 6
months early, by April 2015.
The City Manager reviewed action items: 1) plan to provide access from Dimmitt Drive to the
shopping center through abutting property will end when through traffic is shifted to the service road
and 2) City law enforcement will work with the Florida Highway Patrol to tamp speeds down to 45— 50
mph from Sunset Point Road to Enterprise Road, a difficult challenge when 3 lanes of traffic are
travelling fast. It was recommended that the City announce enforcement efforts. The City Manager
said the Police Department already has written many tickets.
3 —Other Business: None.
