The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall.
To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not necessarily discussed in that order.
ITEM #1 - Approval of Minutes
Member Walker moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of May 14, 1997, as recorded and submitted in written summation to each board member. The motion was duly seconded
and carried unanimously.
Member Corcoran moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of June 11, 1997, as recorded and submitted in written summation to each board member. The motion was duly seconded
and carried unanimously.
ITEM #2 - Continued Requests
a) (Cont’d from 06/11/97) 120 N. East St., Clearwater, Florida; James, George Jr., George III, and Howard Gillespie, Owners; James C. Gillespie, Representative. Applicant is requiring
additional time to bring the structure into compliance with the unsafe structure requirements. Section 47.161 City Code of Ordinances. Located at Nall-Mortonson, East 140-feet of Blk
A.
The applicant requested a time extension to comply with the Unsafe Building Notice. In his April 24, 1997, letter, representative James Gillespie indicated the property owners intend
to sell the property and requested time to consummate the sale. He indicated demolition of the subject building will be a condition of the sales contract.
Representative James Gillespie indicated the corner lot is not involved. The subject building was constructed prior to 1916. Most storage materials have been removed and the building
is sealed. Time is needed to perform an asbestos survey prior to demolition. Mr. Gillespie said the building will be razed prior to September 30, 1997.
Building Construction Inspector Bill Wright distributed photograph sheets from the April 10, 1997, Unsafe Structure Report. He said the building has general deterioration. The City
does not object to the applicant’s request.
Member Walker moved to grant the applicant time to bring the structure into compliance with the unsafe structure requirements or to raze the structure by September 30, 1997. The motion
was duly seconded and carried unanimously. .
