Attached to this letter are documents illustrating concepts currently in design for exterior signs near the emergency room addition. I would like to request your review of these signs for their compliance with codes. For your reference, I would like to describe some of the project background and factors that influenced the sign designs. Part of the goal of this project is to enhance current efforts underway to bring all hospital campus traffic down Pinellas instead of down Jeffords by reconfiguring the entrance to the emergency room from Jeffords to Pinellas. The affect of this reconfiguration will be to minimize hospital traffic impact on the surrounding neighborhoods. Also, the hospital and the emergency room are special entities within the City of Clearwater by virtue of the fact that they provide a community service. Prior to the start of the project Morton Plant Hospital had two 100 square foot signs on the exterior of the building that read "EMERGENCY". These signs have been removed and disposed of. New replacement signs need to be clear, large and readable to minimize confusion about how to get to the entrance. Readable signs diminish driver hesitation and contribute to roadway safety around the emergency room area, which is often a very busy place. Please call me once you have had a chance to review our drawings so we may discuss them further. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, ElLI C~f ~/'()'(.Z.f ~~ Tim Miller, Miller Graphic Design, Inc.
