RE: Amended Development Order - Case SGN2002-06004 at 20505 US Highway 19 North
(Clearwater Mall)
Dear Mr. Babis:
This letter constitutes approval for the proposed minor revisions to the Michaels sign at Building
No. 13 at the Clearwater Mall development. The revision includes a change in the width of the
sign on the front (east) elevation from 31'-0" to 33'-9". The overall size of the sign is slightly
larger (262 square feet to 268.84 square feet). The sign on the west elevation has a decrease in
area from 146 square feet to 113.85 square feet. These changes are reflected on your revised
elevations (sheet AS-9) dated October 29,2002 (received November 5,2002).
The original Development Order was approved on September 24, 2002 as part of a master
signage plan with an increase in the area and number of attached and freestanding signs for all
tenants within the redeveloped Clearwater Mall site, currently under construction. That approval
is based on and must be consistent with the site plan and elevation plans dated received
September 18, 2002 (with amendments received September 19, 2002 - sheets AS-I, AS-6, AS-7,
AS-8).
All previously imposed conditions shall be applied to this approval, including:
1. That all existing, attached signs and freestanding signs, not otherwise approved as part of this
application, be removed prior to the issuance of any permits for freestanding signs;
2. That all attached signs be designed with individual, channel letters (no raceway mount,
cabinet or other design);
3. That addresses be added to freestanding signs (non-directional), in accord with Section 3-
1805.S;
4. That the white, horizontal band/line behind the "Ross" sign be deleted from the north
elevation on sheet AS-6;

.
5. That no freestanding sign be located within the required sight visibility triangles;
6. That all freestanding sign panels be designed with a white background, except for the Lowe's
tenant panel (or tenants replacing Lowe's to occupy building "B") on signs Al and C4;
7. That signage for all future tenants, including those not currently specified under this
application, or any changes to signs included herein, be consistent with the overall theme of
the center, including but not limited to size, location, design, material, color, etc. and be
submitted to Planning Staff for approval prior to issuance of any permits (or prior to
installation should a permit not be required); and
8. That all other Code requirements/restrictions of Division 18 (Signs) be met, including but not
limited, to grand opening banners, window, temporary, construction, sale/leasing signs, etc.

Re: Comprehensive Sign Program Revisions - Clearwater Mall
Dear Ms. Fierce,
Please find the attached two full-sized copies of Sheet AS-9, revised and dated 10/29/02, which
should be reviewed as a part of the Comprehensive Sign Program package for the Clearwater Mall
project. We are respectfulJy requesting that the sign dimensions for Michaels be modified slightly
in order to exactly match a standard sign template. Specifically, the heights remain the same but
the primary front Tenant sign is approximately 2-1/2 ft. wider.
Sincerely,
Dei2fb~~]~

Ross - Buildin2 2 (Sheet AS-6):
1. Add blue colored tile bands at North facade pilasters (two locations at canopy
columns) at front wall of building, and shift/increase height of the blue bands that
were previously approved by approximately 16".
Borders - Buildin2 6 (Sheet AS-7):
1. Add the work "MOVIES" to the tagline at the North and East (primary) signs - The
text height of the entire tagline has been reduced from 1'-8" high to 1'-3" high, but is
the same overall width, resulting in signs that are 11.64 sq. ft. smaller (each) for an
overall area reduction of23.28 sq. ft.
2. Delete the tagline at the West (secondary) sign, and change the "BORDERS"
copy/text from 4' -6" high x 15'-0" wide to 3' .6" high x 21' .6" wide - The result is
an overall area increase of 8.23 sq. ft. Note that this increase still conforms to the
City's standards.
Pier 1 ImpOrts - Buildin2 10 (Sheet AS-IO):
1. Delete signs at East and North facades that are 100.65 sq. ft. each, resulting in an
overall area reduction of201.30 sq. ft.
2. At the West and South facades, change the "Pier 1 Imports" copy/text from 5'.6"
high x 18'-4" wide to 3'.0" high x 27'-0" wide. This results in signs that are 19.65
sq. ft. smaller (each) for an overall area reduction of 39.30 sq. ft. Note also that the
area of the blue-colored fascia has been enlarged to accommodate the Tenant's
minor modifications to the canopy soffit feature.
Please contact me if you have any questions regarding these changes.
Sincerely,
