Total Area of Sign Faces. "-~ei.:~~' N::::: and Location of Signs. The .ht. area, number and location of
signs permitted through the Comprehensive Sign Program shall be determined by the Community Development
Coordinator based on the following criteria: overall size of site, relationship between the building setback and sign
location. frontage. access and visibility to the site. intended traffic circulation pattern. hierarchy of signage. scale and use
of the project, and submittal of a master sign plan for the development parcel/project. Additionally, the maximum
permitted sign area shall be based on the following formula when evaiuated against the above criteria:
i. Attached signs - The maximum area permitted for attached sigr.c::ge l:;h:iil range from one percent up to a maximum
of six percent of the building fa<;ade to which the sign is to be attached.
ii. Freestanding signs - The maximum permitted area of all freestanding signs on a site shall not exceed the range of
sign area permitted by the street frontage or building fa<;ade calculation methods set forth in Section 1806.B.1.c.i.

Dear Mr. Schuler:
On September 23, 2003, the Planning Staff reviewed your application for a
Comprehensive Sign Program (CSP) to increase the area and number of attached signs
from one attached sign of24 square feet (0.01 percent of the west fayade of the building)
to two attached signs totaling 52 square feet. The first sign will be 26 square feet in area
at 0.01 percent of the west (Highland Avenue) fayade of the building to which it will be
attached. The sign will read "PET SAFARI" in red channel letters attached directly to the
fayade of the building. The second sign will be 26 square feet at 0.01 percent of the south
(Belleair Road) fayade of the building to which it will be attached. The sign will also read
"PET SAFARI" in red channel letters attached directly to the fayade of the building.
The request is approved as submitted. This approval is based on and must adhere to the
plans and photos submitted on September 4, 2003.
Pursuant to Section 4-303, an application for a building permit shall be made within one
(1) year of the date of this Development Order (September 25, 2003). All required
building approvals shall be obtained within one (1) year of the date of issuance of the
initial building permit. Permitted time frames do not change with successive owners.
Please be aware that the issuance of this Development Order does not relieve you of the
necessity to obtain any building permits or pay any fees that may be required. In order to
facilitate the issuance of any permit or license affected by this approval, please bring a
copy of this letter with you when applying for any permits or licenses that require this
prior development approval.
