Dear Mr. Rogers:
On June 19, 2002, the Planning Staff reviewed your application for a Comprehensive
Sign Program (CSP) to increase the number of attached sign from one attached sign to
two attached signs. The request also includes an increase in the area of each sign. The
signs will read "COMFORT SUITES" and will be attached to the south and west fa~ades
along Sunnydale and Edgewater Drives, respectively. The signs will consist of burgundy
letters on a raceway painted to match the color of the building. Each sign will contain a
logo consisting of a "CS" in gold on a dark blue background immediately to the left of the
words "COMFORT SUITES".
The following list reflects the size and location of the two proposed attached signs:
1. Increase the area of one attached sign from 24 square feet (maximum permitted
under minimum Code requirements) to 128 square feet (two percent of the fa~ade
of the building on which the sign will located). The sign will be placed on the
south facade; and
2. Increase the area of a second attached from 24 square feet (maximum permitted
under minimum Code requirements) to 72 square feet (three percent of the fa~ade
on which the sign will located). The sign will be placed on the west facade.

The application for the Comprehensive Sign Program has been approved for the attached
sIgns.
Two additional signs are also approved with this sign package. A monument sign four
feet in height and eight feet in area will be located at the southwest comer of the site and
will read "COMFORT SUITES" in white letters on a burgundy background with the
Comfort Suites logo as described above. The base needs to be painted a medium, sand
color. It must match the color of the building and will include the address of the property
which will read "1941 EDGEW ATER DRIVE" in dark blue letters beneath the sign
panel. Two directional signs will be located at the driveway along Sunnydale A venue and
will be three feet in height and four feet in area. Each sign will read "COMFORT
SUITES" in white letters on a burgundy background with logo and a white arrow with the
words "ENTRANCE" or "EXIT" in white letters on a burgundy background. The base of
the directional signs will also be painted in a medium sand color to match the base of the
monument sign as described above.

approvals shall be obtained within one (1) year of the date of issuance of the initial

I need to see elevations with the revised signs on them and all the accompanying information including square footage of
each sign. I also need to see the freestanding sign even though you are not asking to increase the size of it.
