The following list reflects the size and location of all signs to be replaced and the size of the replacement signs: 1. East Fa9ade (6,184 SQuare feet): a) Existing:: 280 square foot sign which reads "CIRCUIT CITY" in white channel letters on a red background. Proposed: 154 square foot cabinet sign (2.49 percent) designed in the shape of a circle. It will read "circuit city in white letters on a red background with a white outline; b) Existing:: 3.5 square foot sign which reads "MERCHANDISE PICK-UP" in white letters on a red background located on the east fac;ade over the merchandise pick-up door. Proposed: 3.5 square foot cabinet sign (0.056 percent of the building fac;ade to which will be attached) which will read "MERCHANDISE PICK-UP" in white letters on a red background. 2. South Facade (5,280 square feet): a) Existing: 119 square foot sign which reads "CIRCUIT CITY" in red channel letters located directly on the south fac;ade. Proposed: 78.5 square foot cabinet sign (1.49 percent) designed in the shape of a circle. It will read "circuit city in white letters on a red background with a white outline. BRIAN]. ',f December 2, 2002 Oij - Page Two A fourth sign, six square feet in area (0.01 percent of the building fa~ade to which it will be attached), located on the west fa~ade over the center bay door and will read "INST ALLA TION CENTER" in red letters on a white background. There are also a three freestanding signs shared with Kinkos. Each sign will include a faced change to the new round "Circuit City" logo. No increase in area is proposed for any of the existing freestanding signs. Two freestanding signs of 144 square feet each are located along u.s. Highway 19 North and Haas Avenue. A third freestanding sign of 106 square feet is located along Lawson Road. A face change is proposed for each sign and will include the removal of the existing sign panel and the installation of a new panel within the existing cabinet with the new logo in the shape of a circle. It will read "circuit city in white letters on a red background with a white outline. No increase in square footage is proposed to the existing freestanding signs and no other changes to the existing freestanding signs are requested or required. No additional freestanding attached signs are proposed with this application. The application for the Comprehensive Sign Program has been approved for the sign as submitted (attached) with the following two conditions: 1) That any new attached signs willrrequire that all existing freestanding signs be brought into full compliance with Code; and 2) That all other provisions of the Code relative to signs be met. Pursuant to Section 4-303, an application for a building permit shall be made within one (1) year of the date of this Development Order (December 2, 2003). All required building approvals shall be obtained within one (1) year of the date of issuance of the initial building permit. Permitted time frames do not change with successive owners. Please be aware that the issuance of this Development Order does not relieve you of the necessity to obtain any building permits or pay any fees that may be required. In order to facilitate the issuance of any permit or license affected by this approval, please bring a copy of this letter with you when applying for any permits or licenses that require this prior development approval. The maximum height of all signs proposed in a Comprehensive Sign Program is twelve (12) feet provided. however, that a single attached sign with a sign face of no more than twelve (12) square feet may be erected up to the height of the principal building. 3. Lighting. Any lighting proposed as a part of a compre~ensive Sign Program is automatically controlled so that the lighting is turned off when the business is dosed. 4. Total Area of Sign Faces. Architechural Theme a. The Circuit City sign package is designed to complement the architechural design ofthe building. The logo change is part of a nationwide image update. 1. Height The wall signs are attached to the building below the height of the building. The freestanding sign are existing. Circuit City is proposing only to change the faces of the signs. 3. Lighting The lighting is turned offwhen the business is closed. 4. Total Area of Sign Faces Existing wall signs are 402.5 square feet. The proposed wall sign package reduces the square footage to 252.71. Freestanding signage square footage would remain the same. Further details on the building frontage and street frontage are enclosed in the proposal. 5. Community Character The proposed signage is in character with the surrounding businesses and community. 6. Property Values The proposed signage is in a commercially zoned area and comparable to signage on adjacent propertiess and therefore should not have a negative impact on property values. 7. Elimination of Unattractive Signage Circuit City proposes a reduction in the square footage of the building signage. Freestanding sign area will remain the same.
