No meeting could be called due to lack of a quorum. Attendees spoke briefly beginning at 8:05 a.m. at the Municipal Services Building. Mr. Dunbar read a letter of resignation from
Member Marcia Blakemore who is moving out of the City. Her resignation is effective October 1. Discussion items included:
Mr. Dunbar reviewed the status of the following Capital Improvement Projects:
Ray Green Park Expansion – Five parcels of property have been acquired; negotiations are under way to purchase two additional lots. The site will be home to the North Greenwood Recreation
and Aquatic Center. Contract negotiations are under way with engineer/architect firm, which is expected to be approved at an October City Commission meeting.
McMullen Tennis Complex. – The clubhouse is undergoing renovation, and a re-dedication of the facility is planned for October. A fee structure is in place whereby the facility will
pay for itself.
Countryside Infrastructure Improvement, expected to go out for bid in September, with April 2001 completion date.
Allen’s Creek Park – The County has agreed to deed its part to the City, and annexation and land use/zoning changes are being considered to acquire other portions of land.
Chair Stuart suggested adding the McDonald’s on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard to the list of possible beautification awards.
Mr. Dunbar said the Parks and Recreation Board on August 28 supported the Committee in recommending the City Commission authorize staff to investigate funding sources to purchase the
William Conley property in the Historic Bayview section to be used as a passive City park.
