Irwin - Assistant City Manager, Patricia O. Sullivan - Board Reporter
The Work Session was called to order at 12:30 p.m. at City Hall.
Discussion ensued. The following statements were made:
1 — Transit Accessibility on US 19 Project
The FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) pedestrian safety study does not address transit
accessibility on US19, important for increasing density for economic development without constructing
additional parking.
Sarah Ward, with MPO, may be able to answer questions re FDOT green book for US19 project
design reported to lack section on transit accessibility.
FDOT is focused on completing US19 project. New construction will have fewer bus stop locations
than anticipated.
2 — Belcher /SR 60 Project in the MPO (Metropolitan Planning Organization) 2040 LRTP
Traffic Operations Manager Paul Bertels has information re abbreviations in the plan.
Accelerating the project would be expensive due to recent development at the intersection and the
location of power lines and stormwater storage.
Synchronization of intersection traffic signals has been delayed until summer.
3 — Educational vs. Informational Terms at ACPT Meeting
The ACPT (Advisory Committee for Pinellas Transportation) uses the term "educational" when
discussing Greenlight Pinellas due to public opposition to government officials using public funds to
campaign on behalf of referendum items; public education is permitted.
4 — Other Business
Greenlight Pinellas still has no management plan.
Charlotte and Denver hired two large engineering firms for their transit projects with one firm providing
oversight.
Hiring one or both firms used by Miami was recommended as it would save money.
Hillsborough County spent more than $1 million on enhancements for its portion of the Courtney
Campbell Causeway trail and FDOT increased its budget by $700,000 for landscaping there.
The Pinellas County side has no shade structures or benches in its basic design.
Are funding sources available for amenities and landscaping for the Pinellas County side?
5 — Adjourn - The Work Session adjourned at 12:52 p.m.
