Re: Estate of May Rea
Dear Ms. Haygood:
I am pleased to report that the situation I described to you earlier, as
summarized in the letter I delivered to your office late yesterday, has been
resolved. The lady who purchased Space D of Lot 99 has agreed to accept
Space B of Lot 98 in exchange for Space D. Space B is on the other side of
the space in which her husband has been interred.
This seems to be the logical and happiest solution for all concerned,
and we have cancelled the arrangments described in yesterday's letter.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
M. A. Galbraith, Jr.
City Attorney

was called at the funeral home to make sure the
arrangements have been cancelled.

Re: Estate of May Rea
Dear Ms. Haygood:
As a follow-up to our telephone conversation earlier this week, I am writing to
you in your capacity as the legal representative of First National Bank of Clearwater,
personal representative of the Estate of May Rea, to explain the circumstances under
which the City of Clearwater mistakenly sold to the Estate a space in the Clearwater
cemetery which had previously been sold to another, with the result that her remains
are now interred three spaces away from the space which should have been sold for
that purpose.
Two years ago, Space D of Lot 99, Block 15, was sold to a lady whose son has
been interred in the adjacent space. The clerk who handled the transaction for the
City at that time recorded the information incorrectly in our index book, and Space D
appeared to be available for sale at the time a space was purchased for Mrs. Rea.
Needless to say, the lady who purchased Space D desires that the City correct its error
as soon as possible.
We propose to make all necessary arrangements for the interment of Mrs. Rea's
remains in Space A of Lot 99, Block 15, which is located only a few feet away from
Space D and which is comparable in all respects. The interment will be accomplished
by the same funeral home with an appropriate dignity and at no cost to the Estate.
The arrangements are scheduled to be performed during the week of April 18,
1988. In the meantime, we believe that it is appropriate and necessary that we inform
you of the necessity for these arrangements, so that you may inform the beneficiaries
under her will. In doing so, we wish to express our sincere regret that this error
occurred. We trust, however, that the corrective measures to be taken by the City
will prove to be satisfactory to an concerned.
Sincerely,
RECEIVED
