Gulley Executive Director Clearwater Neighborhood Housing Service 1002 N. Greenwood Ave. Clearwater, Fl. 34615 Dear Isay: t C L E A R W A T E R POST OFFICE BOX 4748 CLEARWATER, FLORIDA 34618.4748 Here's a conceptual landscape design for your new office location. This plan should meet all ordinance requirements of buffering retention ponds and parking areas. The landscaping on the immediate east and north sides of the building is not required but something that would beautify the building somewhat. Some of the considerations of this plan include: - using low growing trees along Elridge St. to keep them from growing into the overhead powerlines. - using Bahia sod which is the most drought tolerant, which can survive without supplemental irrigation, once it's established. - use a medium to low growing hedge around the perimeter of the "buffered" areas to allow for visual exposure from the streets. - do not disturb roots of existing trees, as little as possible. - leave adequate space for front entrances and ramps to the office. - use Hibiscus in at least one area to promote the "City" flower. - help shade the parking lot with tree plantings. We have the fifteen trees planned at the City Nursery facility that Mr. Wilson has authorized for use at this site. The City landscape crew will perform the labor involved with the installation of the trees, shrubs, and mulch. Sod should be installed by a contractor at your cost. If you desire an irrigation system a water source would have to be identified. We could work up a system that would match the needs of the landscape and give you an estimate of the cost of materials. A lawn irrigation meter, which saves you sewer charges, requires a backflow prevention device, at the total cost of approximately $840.00. ■pi 'Equal Employment and Affirmative Action Employer'' 1• r., Estimated landscape costs that would be covered by your office include: - 60 three gallon size shrubs (buffer hedge) $ 250.00 - 30 of of 11 if (foundation) 150.00 _ 40 one gallon groundcover plants 80.00 - 10-yds. Shredded cypress mulch (or use recycled /free) 110.00 3600 sq. ft. Bahia sod, installed 432.00 - Irrigation ? ? This should give you an idea of what this "basic" plan involves. I hope the - drawing is adequate for your needs. Keep*me posted on your construction progress so I can schedule your project. Consider what you want / can afford for landscaping and I could help coordinate wholesale purchases for the materials. I can be reached at 462 -6116 or the above number. Sin erely, Mark C.
