After examining the plans for new construction at 1861 N. Highland Avenue and
examining the trees affected by the proposed construction activities, I have prepared the
following Tree Preservation Plan for your review. Each tree has been located on the Tree
Survey and assigned a number, which is referenced in this Plan:
TREE PRESERVATION PLAN
Trees 56, 57, 58, and 59: Prior to removal of asphalt, sidewalk may be removed using
machinery, with extreme caution used to avoid any contact with tree trunks or roots.
After sidewalk is removed, all asphalt to be removed within the drip spans of these trees
shall be removed using hand tools only, with great care taken to not damage roots.
Immediately upon removal of asphalt, soil within drip spans shall be aerated with two -
inch diameter holes drilled one -foot deep and spaced on approximately two -foot centers
and filled with pea gravel.
Four inches of cypress mulch shall be placed in a 12 -foot diameter circle around each
tree, or as close to that area as terrain grade permits.
Barricade trees as shown on Barricade Detail on Tree Survey to 2/3 drip span and as
close as possible to proposed asphalt line. ,

Crowns of trees shall be elevated to a height of ten -feet minimum over proposed parking

as possible to proposed new asphalt..
Trees 13, 14, 15; 16, 17,18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39: Elevate crowns
to minimum of ten feet; prune lower crowns to ANSI A -300 standards.
Note: No materials, supplies, dirt or sand may be stored within drip spans of any trees on
property.
