Between City of Clearwater and Philadelphia Phillies
in Relation to i i Agreement
Dear Mr, Timberlake:
This Letter of Understanding between r. John Timberlake, representative for the
Philadelphia Philli ("R illi ") and the City of Clearwater ("City") is in regard to
clarification of Section 5-4 Partnership Everts and Section 7.1 Revenues from
Partnership Events & Civic Events in the Sparta facility Use r m nt, dated
December 31, 2000.
First, it is understood that after several attempts by the city and Phillies to partner and
conduct special everts not related to baseball, with limited success with the exception
of graduation everts and other related baseball events.
Second, due to resource reductions arid need for City staff to focus on producing. and
recruiting fewer special everts, the Phillies and City recognized need to employ a
Special Events Coordinator rdinator f cured on Bright House Fi [d. This person is mpl d by
the Phillies to coordinate special everts for the Phillies as well as be the coordinator
with the City in partnership events.
Third, the City and Phillies will share equally in paying the salary of this individual
contingent on the City's ability to make enough fUnds through the partnership to cover
said portion. In case there is a shortfall in shared revenue needed' to pay the salary, the
1=ghillies will be responslNe to cover the balance.
Fourth, Section 7.1 in part states that the City and Phillies will share equally in events
(50/50). However, the City and Phillies agree that for certain events depending upon
the work involved in the event the net revenue may be distributed in different
proportions. Thus, it is agreed that the City shall receive a minimum of 25% of net
revenue from the Big East Tournament, held annual y at Bright House Field, These
funds writ be used in part to fund the City's share af the 50% salary.
