I just spoke with Mr. Rivero. Mrs. Kane apparently bought the plot for her adopted son, but has
since passed away. Mr. Kane has no living relatives, and left no will that specifically addresses
this plot. After I spoke with him, Mr. Rivero understands that he has no legal standing to deal
with this matter, but just wanted to let us know that the space will not be used, and wanted to
tie up any loose threads about it.
He was very nice and seemed so very sad. I felt badly but he assured me that he was fine with
the situation.

Yes, Ms. Kane or, if she is deceased, her estate beneficiary/ies would possess legal rights to the space.
The recently adopted Domestic Partner Registry, as I recall, does not create any new legal rights, even per City
government functions such as cemetery operations. In any case it appears that either it has not gone into effect or
there was no registration while Mr. Rivero's partner was alive.

Leslie, I'm thinking that, unfortunately, Mr. Rivero has no legal standing or rights to do anything
about this matter. Wouldn't it have to be someone from Ms. Kane's family either by blood or
marriage?

Hello,
I need your assistance regarding the matter below.
2
I received a call from Roger Rivero,Telephone number 407-832-1114, regarding Block 14, Lot 548,Space 3 at the
Municipal cemetery. Our cemetery program shows that Anna M. Kane owns this plot which was bought back in 1969.
Mr. Rivero's partner recently passed away and he was the adopted son of Anna M. Kane. I couldn't find a copy of a deed
under the name Kane or any other information. The space is vacant.
Mr. Rivero would like to know what happens to this vacant space since his partner donated his body to science and
there's no use for this vacant space. What can he do?
Please give Mr. Rivero a call when you get a chance. Not sure how to answer his question.
Thank You.
