PUBLIC ART & DESIGN BOARD MEETING MINUTES
CITY OF CLEARWATER
November 8, 2011

The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:11 p.m. at the Municipal Services Building.
To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not
necessarily discussed in that order.
2 – Approval of Minutes
– September 15, 2011
Consensus was to continue minutes’ approval to January 12, 2012.
3 - New Business
3.1. Sculpture360: Season IV – Review alternate sculptures
Cultural Affairs Specialist Christopher Hubbard distributed schematics and photographs
of substitute sculptures proposed for Sculpture360: Season IV.
Mr. Hubbard reported Artist Dee Dee Morrison’s sculpture, “Landscape with
Perspective,” was damaged and cannot be repaired quickly. Artist Morrison can provide an
alternate sculpture.
Member Powers moved that the Public Art & Design Board recommends approval of the
sculpture “Suncatcher” by Dee Dee Morrison for Sculpture360: Season IV as replacement for
the artist’s damaged work, “Landscape with Perspective.” The motion was duly seconded and
carried unanimously.
Mr. Hubbard said Artist Jeffrey Turner, creator of the sculpture “Sublime Delights,”
declined to purchase required insurance. Staff recommends replacing that sculpture with
“Opposing Forces,” a sculpture created by competition finalist Hanna Jubran.
Member Klar moved that the Public Art & Design Board recommends approval of the
sculpture “Opposing Forces” by Hanna Jubran for Sculpture360: Season IV to replace “Sublime
Delights.” The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.

Mr. Hubbard said the sculptures would be installed before Thanksgiving. Staff will tweak
the application process to require proof of insurance earlier in the process. An opening
ceremony was recommended.
