Call to Order Vice-Chair Jack Geller called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. 2. Presentation on Forms of Government - City Attorney The City Attorney briefly described the Council-Manager and Council-Strong Mayor forms of government. The City’s current form of government is Council-Manager. The City Attorney said the Committee is seeking public input on Strong Mayor form of government. 3. Public Input – Persons speaking before the committee shall be limited to 3 minutes. Charter Review 2011-04-12 1 In response to a question, Vice Chair Jack Geller said the City Council has asked the Committee to review the City Charter, which included considering changing form of government to strong-mayor. The objective of today's hearing is to seek public input on Council-Strong Mayor form of government. Mr. Geller said the Committee will provide City Council with recommendations. The City Council will decide whether any of the Committee's recommendations will be placed on a ballot for the next city election. Eight individuals spoke in opposition to changing the current form of government, Council-Manager form. Three individuals supported a change to Strong Mayor form of government. One individual expressed concern with councilmembers not being allowed to attend staff meetings and one individual opposed extending council terms. 4.
