Subject: Letter regarding Ewart G. Horne
Mary,
We received your letter at the City of Clearwater regarding Ewart G. Horne.
He is not buried in the Clearwater Municipal Cemetery, however you may want to contact the Bureau of Vital Statistics for
Pinellas County to see if they have a record of his death. They can be reached at 727-507-4330. Perhaps, if he did die
here, they can tell you the information on his death certificate and maybe clarify if he was a brother or son of James Horne.
Best of luck to you!
Sincerely,
Karen Vaughan

Dear Sir:
125 Berkeley Street
Lawrence, Ma. 01841
February 10, 2006
James David Horne was Principal of Lawrence High School for over twenty years and,
indeed, had part of the building named in his honor. If all goes well a new Lawrence High
School will open September, 2006 and we are attempting to learn all we can about the Horne
family before the dedication.
Mr. Horne died October 13, 1923 and is buried with his wife in Bellevue Cemetery,
Lawrence. Records show a Ewart G. Horne also buried there February 15, 1949 and was also
the one who purchased the lot. A futile search of city records here find no record of Ewart Horne
either in Lawrence or nearby Methuen where they once lived. He did, however, reside in
Clearwater, Florida in 1930 and we presume died there. Because there is confusion as to
whether he is a son or a brother of James D. Horne, we would appreciate any information you
might have in your records regarding Mr Ewart. His birth was approximately 1889 but when he
moved to Florida is unclear.
Thank you for any information you might provide and I will gladly pay for whatever
copies of the records you might send. Of course, e-mail is convenient so: agirouard
@Comcast.net if preferred.
Very truly yours,
