Subject: Damaged Tombstones.......?
Hi JoEllyn!
I received a call from Barbara Fricke today. Her grandparents are buried in the Clearwater Cemetery:
Block 12, Lot 66, Spaces 1 through 4. (corner of Lakeview and Myrtle)
Names on the stones are Wilcox (rose colored stone, Everitt and Alice, new as of 3 months ago) and the other ones are
Wilson.
Barbara said there are big chunks of cement on the tombstones, not just her family's but others in that area as well. The
new, rose colored tombstone has also been cracked. She said it looks like someone tried to maybe remove or chisel the
cement off and cracked the stone in the process.
I need to call Barbara back today or tomorrow at the latest to tell her how this situation is going to be rectified..........
Please advise. I don't know who is responsible (City or County) but I'm suspecting it has something to do with the road
construction going on in that area......???
Thanks!

Karen-
I inspected the area of concern with JoEllyn King, Eric Lewis and Joe Taylor. We found some small concrete debris that
appears to be from the foundations the stones are set in that has started to wear a bit over time. It is possible the road
crew created the miss and had already cleaned the area up, but I don't know that for sure was the case. Also, we could not
find any damage to the rose colored stone and would be happy to meet someone on site to ensure we didn't miss
anything. Please see attached photos.
Additionally, staff is working on better edging and turf/weed control around the headstones throughout the entire cemetery
and she should see noticeable progress over the next few months on the overall appearance of the facility.
