Sullivan Board Reporter The Vice Chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall. To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not necessarily discussed in that order. 2 - Approval of Minutes – September 9, 2010 Member Gibson moved to approve the minutes of the regular Pension Advisory Committee meeting of September 9, 2010, as submitted in written summation to each board member. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. 3 – Review and Action on Employee Request for Regular Pension 3.1. Recommend approval to grant request by employee Margaret Simmons for a regular pension as provided by Sections 2.397 and 2.398. Margaret Simmons, Finance Director, Finance Department, was employed by the City on September 20, 1982, and her pension service credit is effective on that date. Her pension will be effective March 1, 2011. Based on an average salary of approximately $113,248 per year over the past five years, the formula for computing regular pensions, and Ms. Simmons’ selection of the 100% Joint & Survivor Annuity, this pension will approximate $87,475 annually. Section 2.397 provides for normal retirement eligibility when a participant has completed thirty years of credited service, has reached age 55 and completed twenty years of credited service, or has reached age 65 and completed ten years of credited service. Ms. Simmons qualifies under the 20 years of service and at least age 55 criteria. Member Gibson moved to recommend approval of the request by employee Margaret Simmons for a regular pension as provided by Sections 2.397 and 2.398. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. 4 – Approval of New Hires as Plan Members Pension Advisory 2010-10-14 1 4.1 Recommend acceptance of new hires into Pension Plan as listed. Leanne Walker originally was hired March 15, 2010 as part-time; promoted and pension eligible as of September 25, 2010. Member Doran moved to recommend acceptance of new hires into the Pension Plan as listed. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. 5 - Director's Report Human Resources Director Joe Roseto said the committee's next normal meeting date falls on November 11, Veterans Day. Member Doran moved to schedule the November PAC (Pension Advisory Committee) meeting on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. 6 - Committee Members to be Heard Members thanked retiring employee Margie Simmons for her many contributions to the City and wished her well. Member Doran said he and Member Jonson had attended the fall FPPTA (Florida Public Pension Trustees Association) training; course books are available for review.
