Jones 12425 28th Street North St. Petersburg, FL 33604 MAY 20 1986 Reference: S. R. 580 -- Bryn Mahr at Countryside II CITY CLERK Gentlemen: In accordance with Section 138.09 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Clearwater, I have reviewed your request for a temporary sidewalk installa- tion waiver. While technically you meet. the requirements for sidewalk installation, the widening of S. R. 580 through the above-referenced area would probably result in the destruction of the sidewalk. In view of the construction which is now in progress, a temporary waiver of the sidewalk instal1at.ion requirement is granted on the above-referenced property. Should it be determined that a sidewalk is required at this location in the future, it will be installed by the assessment process. cc: Elizabeth S. Haeseker, Assistant City Manager Edward V. City Manager FROM: Keith Crawford, Traffic Engineering Director teAY 1 5 1986 COPIES: E. Bethel, Building Dept. Director SUBJECl: Sidewalk Waiver: S.R. 580 - Bryn Mahr at Countryside II DATE: May 14, 1986 We have been requested to waive the requirement for a sidewalk installation on the north side of S.R. 580 along the Bryn Mahr Development. While this would technically meet the requirements for sidewalk installation, the widening of S.R. 580 through this area will probably result in destruction of the sidewalk. There are no sidewalks along S.R. 580 on the north side between Countryside Boulevard and Landmark Drive, although this area is totally developed. I am unable to find paperwork to support this, but it is my remembrance that an arrangement was struck between the City and U.S. Homes to install a sidewalk which normally would be required here at other locations in countryside where the City would have had to install the sidewalk. This was done because of a ditch along the north side which would make it difficult or impossible to build large portions of the sidewalk. At that time the waiver process was quite different than it is today. In view of the construction which is now in progress, it is my recommendation the sidewalk be waived. There is a sidewalk on the south side of S.R. 580 in this area. When a final determination can be made of the extension of S.R. 580 east of Countryside Boulevard it would be appropriate to arrange for a sidewalk on the north side. t;:p Attachment (Original)
