WHEREAS, General Telephone Company has indi-
cated its desire to increase phone rates for service
within the corporate limits of the City of Clearwater;
and,
WHEREAS, Avery W. Gilkerson, Clerk of the Cix-
suit Court in and for Pinellas County, Florida, is
vigorously protesting the increase of phone rates as
the same might affect the citizens of Pinellas County,
Florida; and,
WHEREAS, there is grave public concern with re-
spect to the effect which the increase of such rates
will have upon business and social life of the citizens
of Clearwater;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY C014-
MISSION OF THE C,ITY.OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, IN
SESSION DULY AND-REGULARLY ASSE14BLED, AS FOLLOWS:
The Commission does hereby and hereon place it-
self upon record as unalterably opposed to an increase
in telephone service charges, and joins with Avery W.
Gilkerson, Clerk of the Circuit Court, Pinellas County,
Florida, in his opposition to any grant of increase in
rates pendirgbefore the Florida Railroad and Public
Utilities Commission.'
