,. WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, Florida, exprrioncod a ,.

ing the early morning of March 17, 1958, which threat•enod the on-
tire central portion of the town! and,

WHEREAS, by virtue of the concerted, heroic and diligent
combined efforts of employes of the City of Clearwater and of neighboring communities of Largo, Tarpon Springs and St. Peters-

, and of citizens, organizations and businesses of Clear-
water, the fire and damage incident thereto were confined, there
was no loss of life or personal injury and traffic and business `>ft .
activity in the downtown section were resumed with a minimum of

WHEREAS, it is desired to express the heartfelt apprecia-
tion of the individual members of the Clearwater City Commission,
personally, and on behalf of the citizens of the City of C1ear-
r"r, jwater, to all who assisted in this regard? ARM
? `. ' ,•. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY O' CLEARWATER IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED,
, AS FOLLOWS:

1. That the members of the fire and Police Departments
of the City of Clearwater, the City Manager, the Public Service
employes, and all other employes of the City are commended for
the efficient and professional manner in which they perfdrmed on
said occasion.

2. That appreciation is expressed to the municipalities
of Largo, Tarpon Springs and St. Petersburg for the prompt, effi-
cient and neighborly assistance they rendered in furnishing ele-
ments of their fire departments and other municipal services at
-€ said time.
r ; 3. That the Florida Power Corporation, Peninsular Tele-
phone Company, Civil Defense organization and the American Red
Cross are commended for their assistance and prompt and efficient
?help.
' 4. That the owners, managers and local representatives
a : of Birchell Sundries, McCrory's Stores Corporation and F. W. Wool-
worth Company are commended for their gratuitous and humanitarians
efforts in serving coffee to fire fighters and other
personnel com-
batting said conflagration.
5. That a copy of this Resolution be furnished the follol-r- ?
ing persons: Chiefs of Fire and Police Departments of the City of
Clearwater, Clearwater City Manager. Head of the Public Service De-
partment , Clearwater; the Mayor and Chief of the Fire Departments
respectively of Largo, Tarpon Springs and St. Petersburg, the local
managers of Florida Power Corporation and Peninsular Telephone Com-
pany, the Director of Civil Defense, the President of the local chant-
er of American Red Cross, the owner of Birchell Sundries, and the
local managers of McCrory's Stores Corporation and F. W. Woolworth
Company.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, this 17th day of March, 1958.
