I believe that making the proprietors of that establishment file fora "Nightclub permit" simply because they want to serve beer and wine is so irresponsible that it borders on slander and harassment. The operators seek to offer nothing more to their patrons than Perkins Pancake House, which also offers beer and wine -yet no one in their right mind would consider Perkins a "Night Club." In fact, I wonder if you made Perkins at Gulf to Bay and US 19 obtain nightclub permit. I would, in no uncertain terms, fight tooth and nail to prevent the opening of an establishment that actually would be a traditional "Nightclub" within 200 feet of my home, however I fully endorse and support the opening of the Brew Garden. It will be the first restaurantleatery within walking distance of many homes in our community and such an establishment will greatly contribute to the livability of our neighborhood. When you boost the livability of a community you also boost home and land values. Goodness knows that in this economy, we could all use help with boosting land and home values. I think having an establishment nearby where my wife, seven-year-old daughter and I could walk for a sandwich and some coffee would be a wonderful thing. Denying the Brew Garden permission to offer wine and beer would be as irresponsible and egregious as forcing the owners to apply fora "Nightclub" permit, despite the fact that the establishment will, in no way, resemble what anyone in their right minds would consider a "Nightclub." Please allow this establishment to carry beer and wine and consider amending city policy to prevent such misunderstanding for future applicants. After receiving an overview letter about the proposed Brew Garden to be located near my home, I have to admit that if everything that was stated in the overview is correct and adheared too, then it sounds like a place I and some of the neighbors would frequent on a regular basis. Actually I kind of like the idea of being able to take a short walk and enjoy a desert and the other activities the establishment said it would be offering. Respectifizlly, Frank A. Wells, I live behind 904 N. McMullen Booth Road on Glen Oak Ave East and was unable to come to the meeting because I was unable to get off work. I just want to let you know that my husband and I have no problem with this place getting thier liquid license. This bulding doesn't have that much business going in and out so I feel that it won't cause traffic issues. With the way the times are right now, I feel that the Fritz should get a chance to start a small business with this liquid license and prove what they say! As an aside, there was no problem with a Starbuck's, previously at the location. I'd be very interested to know why, in light of that, there would be an issue with the Brew Garden. My husband and I own a house at 3049 Kapok Kove Dr, within 200 feet of The Brew Garden's proposed location. When I first received notification from the City that an application had been made to place a nightclub at this location, I was terribly upset, as you can imagine. My primary concern was noise and traffic. Many small children live on our street and a nightclub is simply incompatible with a quiet residential neighborhood. However, I have since received some helpful information from the Fritzes that has set my mind at ease. Apparently, the establishment they seek to open is NOT, in fact, an actual nightclub. It is simply a small cafe that will offer beer and wine, as well as coffee, food and desserts. I really don't understand why the City would even classify them as a nightclub. Personally, I think that The Brew Garden would be a nice addition to our neighborhood, and neither my husband (Bob Lasher) nor I would object to this permit. I understand that there is a hearing on March 17th for the City of Clearwater to approve or deny their application for business. I am unable to attend the hearing, but as a nearby resident of the property at 904 McMullen Booth Rd, Clearwater, FL, I wanted to voice my opinion. I am in FULL SUPPORT of this business. I do not know the owners personally nor have any financial or business dealings with them. Hence, my endorsement is simply a gesture of good will for the success of their business. I believe this type of establishment will enhance our neighborhood, bring together neighbors, and provide a relaxing place for persons of all ages. I look forward to supporting a local small business in my community, especially during these tough economic times. I initially lead objection to the Brew Garden opening in my neighborhood and voiced my opinion in a letter to the City Clerk: Cynthia E. Goudeaiy MMC. I have since spoken with Sandy and received a letter from her as well. I have been assiered that the establishment will not be open after 11pm and will riot have loacd mtesic or bar games as a usual bar does. I was assured that this is actually a cafe and not a nightclub. Sandy addressed each of my concerns arzd I now feel I have no objections to the Brew Garden at this time. Had I had all the facts in the beginning I would not have objected. Please consider this my revocation of the previous letter of objection and feel f •ee to contact me if you need anything further.
