A RESOLUTION:

WHEREAS, 'the Oit.y of Olearwat.er has a public Park which
has been offically named 'The Olearwat.er War Memorial Park., and
WHEREAS, the word',:WAR is in-appropriat.e in t.he name,
because it. is neit.her 'the purpose nor t.he int.ent. of t.he cit.y t.o glorify
and memorialize war, and
WHEREAS, it. is in keeping wit.h t.he highest. and most noble
t.radit.ions of the Nation t.o honor, and preserve the memory of its
artyred dead,
THEREFORE, be it resolved 'that. Olearwater Barracks #269,
Vet.erans of World War 1, U.S.A., Inc., does hereby go on record as
solemnly and earnest.ly petit.ioning the Olearwat.er Cit.y Oommission to
change the name from 'The Clearwat.er War Memorial Park' t.o 'The Veterans
Memorial Park of Olearwat.er'.
The foregoing resolut.ion as unan1mous~~ adopted by the Barracks at. its
regular business meet.ing MlrclJ 12, 1964.
