ORDINANCE NO. 1782
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
AMENDING ARTICLE II, ADMINISTRATION, OF CHAPTER 18,
SIGNS, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, 1962, TO PROVIDE THAT THE
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT AND APPEAL ON SIGNS SHALL BE
APPOINTED BY A MAJORITY VOTE OF THE CITY COMMISSION;
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT OF
SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR THE SEPARABILITY OF
THE PROVISIONS HEREOF; PROVIDING FOR PROPER NOTICE
OF PROPOSED ENACTMENT AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 18-5, Enforcement, of Article II, Administration,
of Chapter 18, Signs, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Clearwater,
Florida, 1962, is hereby amended by amending subparagraph (1) of subsection
(b), Board of Adjustment and Appeal on Signs, to read as follows;
(1) A board of adjustment and appeal on signs is hereby
established. The board shall consist of seven (7)
members, who shall all be residents of the City of
Clearwater, each of whom shall be appointed by th,
mayvn--*itht4?approval--of a majority vote of the city
commission, and to consist of a representative of the
chamber of commerce, an architect, a realtor, a
representative of the sign industry, and three (3)
private citizens. The term of office of the members
of the board shall be for two (2) years, excepting that
the original membership of the board appointed shall
serve respectively for terms of four (4) for one year
and three (3) for two (2) years. Thereafter, members
shall be appointed for terms of two (2) years each with
a maximum of two (2) consecutive terms. Vacancies shall
be filled for an unexpired term only, and mezxlbers may be
removed for cause by the city commission. /
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
Section 3. Should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this
ordinance be declared for any reason to be invalid, the same shall not affect
the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any part thereof other than the
part declared to be invalid.

Section 4. Notice of the proposed enactment of this ordinance has
been properly advertised in a newspaper of general circulation in accordance
with Chapter 166.041 0 Florida Statutes.
Section. S. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon i
its passage.
