A PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO COMPLY THEREWITH
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF ORDINANCES OR PARTS
OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE
EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR THE ,
SEPARABILITY OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF AND ?,.
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS
ORDINANCE. ,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER. FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section I IA-1 of Chapter 11-A, pertaining to housing,
of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Clearwater, Florida, 1962, is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 11A-1. Southern Standard Housing Cade--Adopted.
There is hereby adopted by the City of Clearwater, Florida,
that certain code known as the Southern Standard Housing
Code, being particularly the 1969 Edition thereof and the
whole thereof, of which Code not less than three (3) copies
thereof are now and have been for the last preceding ten
(10) days on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of
Clearwater, and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated
by reference as fully as if set forth at length herein, as
authorized by Section 165. 191, Florida Statutes, and from
the date on which this ordinance shall take effect, the
provisions therein shall be controlling in the use, main-
tenance and occupancy of all dwellings, dwelling units
and/or structures within the area of jurisdiction of the
City of Clearwater, Florida.
Section 2. Section IIA-2, pertaining to-amendments to Chapter
11-A, Housing, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
1962, is hereby repealed in itaentirety.

Section 3. Any poreon, organization, society, association'or
corporation, or any agent or representative thereof who shall violate any
provisions of this Ordinance or the code hereby adopted or fail to comply
therewith, or who shall violate or fail to comply with any order made
thereunder shall, upon conviction in the Municipal Court, be fined not
exceeding the sum of Five Hundred Dollars • ($500. 00), or imprisoned in
the City Jail for not exceeding sixty (60) days, or by both such fine and
imprisonment, in the discretion of the Municipal Judge, Each day's
continuance of any violation of any provision of this Ordinance or the code
hereby adopted shall constitute a separate offense. The imposition of one
penalty for any violation shall not excuse the violation or permit it to
continue; and all such persons shall be required to correct or remedy
such violations or defects within a reasonable time. The application of
the above penalty shall not be held to prevent the enforced removal of
prohibited conditions.
Section 4. All former ordinances or parts thereof conflicting or
inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance or of the code hereby
adopted are hereby repealed.
Section 5. Should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of
this ordinance or of the code hereby adopted be declared for any reason to
be invalid, the same shall not affect the validity of the ordinance or code as
a whole, or any part thereof other than the part declared to be invalid.
Section 6. This ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its passage.
