BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CI'T'Y OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA: f,
Section 1. Portions of Section 3. 02, as hereinafter indicated, per-
taining to Domestic House Piping--Installation Requirements, of the Gas
Code of the City of Clearwater, Florida, 1960, as adopted by Ordinance
No. 866 of the City of Clearwater, are amended as follows:
A. Subsection (g) thereof is amended to read as follows:
3.02
"(g) Gas piping may be concealed in walls, ceilings,
floors, or in the ground below floor slabs only after
inspection and approval, before concealment, by the
City Gas Inspector or his assistant. Failure to con-
form to this rule will result in condemnation of all
{ { such concealed piping that has not been inspected and
approved and further work stopped. Only after such
uninspected concealed piping has again been exposed,
inspected and approved will the work be allowed to
proceed. 11
B. Subsection (s) thereof is amended to read as follows:
} 3.02
"(s) House piping shall not be installed in solid masonry
floor slabs without specific permission of the City Gas
Inspector, by methods approved by him. House piping
y t'• installed in the ground below floor slabs shall be suitably
protected against corrosion by wrapping or coating the
portion in contact with the soil with materials approved
by the City Inspector. Uncoated or unwrapped galvanized
pipe will not be considered as adequate for installation
under floor slabs unless inclosed in a casing of larger
diameter. "

Section 2. Portions of Section 3. 03, as hereinafter indicated, per-
taining to Commercial and Industrial House Piping, of the Gas Code of
the City of Clearwater, Florida, 1960, as adopted by Ordinance No. 866
of the City of Clearwater, are amended as follows:
A. Subsection (c) thereof is amended to read as follows:
3.03
"(c) Piping may be buried in the ground under floor
slabs inside of building when suitably protected
against corrosion as provided in subsection (a) of
Section 3. 02 as amended. Avoid running piping
through crawl spaces. Where gas piping must be
run in crawl spaces, tunnels, or unfrequented
basements, continuous ventilation must be provided. "
B. Subsection (d) thereof is amended to read as follows:
3.03
"(d) Piping in crawl spaces should be treated in
the same manner, as other above ground piping with
respect to painting and insulation if necessary. When
it is practical to do so, outdoor gas piping in in-
dustrial plant yards should be installed above ground.
Such piping must be securely supported and located
where it will be protected from physical damage.
Where soil conditions are unstable and settling of
piping or foundation walls may occur, adequate
measures shall be provided to prevent excessive
stressing of the piping. Avoid locating piping in
cinder fill. "
C. Subsection (e) thereof is amended to read as follows:
3.03
"(e) All house piping installed in the ground below
floor slabs shall be suitably protected against
corrosion in conformance with the provisions of
subsection (s) of Section 3. 02 as amended. All
concealed piping in walls, ceilings, floors or below
floor slabs shall be inspected before concealment
in the manner and procedure provided in subsection
(g) of Section 3. 02 as amended. 11
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
Section 4. Should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase; clause
or other part or provisions of this Ordinance or "The Gas Code of the City
of Clearwater, Florida, 1960" as amended be declared by any court to

be invalid, the game shall not affect the validity of this Ordinance or
"The Gas Code of the City of Clearwater, Florida, 1960" as amended
as a whole, or any part thereof, other than the part declared to be invalid.
Section 5. Any person, firm or corporation or the agent, servant
or employee of such who shall violate any of the provisions of this
Ordinance or refuse to comply with any order of the City Gas Inspector given
in pursuance of or by the authority of this Ordinance and the rules em-
braced therein, shall upon conviction thereof in the Municipal Court of
the City of Clearwater, Florida, be punished by a fine, not exceeding
Two Hundred Dollars ($200. 00) or by imprisonment, not exceeding ninety
(90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment at the discretion of the
Municipal Judge.
Section 6. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its passage.
