ORDINANCE NO. 662 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 54 AND 56 of ORDINANCE NO. 606 OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER FLORIDA, REGULATING SOLICITORS AND CANVASSES IN THE CITY OF CLEARWATER; PROVIDING FOR THE SEVERABILITY OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF; BE- PEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES TO THE EXTENT OF THEIR CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER , FLORIDA: Section 1. That Section 54 of Ordinance No. 606 r.egula- Ling solicitors and canvassers in the City of Clearwater, Florida, be and the same is hereby amended by deleting from the second and third lines thereof the words, "an occupational license to do business," and by substituting therefor the words, "a solicitorts permit." Section 2. That said ordinance be and the same is further hereby amended by deleting therefrom Section 56, and by substi- tuting therefor the following: "Section 56. If the Chief of Police shall determine " after reasonable investigation that the applicant is of good moral character, and proposes to engage in a lawful and legitimate commercial or professional enterprise, and that said enterprise is not in any manner prejudicial }a, to the public health, safety, morals, or general welfare and is not of such nature as to be offensive to the public, or to be likely to cause or contribute to dis- turbances of any nature, he is then within his discretion to issue the permit applied for, which permit shall expire on the 30th day of September next following the date of issuance of the permit." ,..;. ..x.:.: Section 3. If any section, sub-section, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be unconsti- tutional or invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance. SECTION 51. Any person desiring to secure much a.' policitorts permit shall apply therefor in writing; ever' his or her signature to the Chief of Police on forms pro- vided by the City, and suhh application shall state (1) the name and address of the applicant, (2) the name and address of the person, firm or corporation by whom employe (3) the length of service of such applicant with 'such am- ployer,, (4) the place of residence and nature of employme of the applicant during the last preceding year (5), the nature or character of the goods, wares, merchandise or services to be offered by the applicant, (6) the personal description of the applicant.
