AN ORDINANCE hELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATION ON THE CAUSEWAY
IN THE CITY Cr CLEARPIATLh, FLORIDA, AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY

WHEREAS: The traffic on the Clearwater causeway since its
completion has on each succeeding year greatly increased in
volume; and-
1MEAS: At this time there are many motor vehicles driven
on said causeway which are over loaded, thereby endangering
E tho livev of the occupants of said motor vehicles, the
travel- ing public and the pedestrians using said causeway.

CITY OP CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
r ? i. ` SECTION 1. In order to safe guard and protect the public safety
and the lives and property of its citizens, the owner, operator,
driver or person in charge of any motor vehicle driven on the'
causeway shall conform to and observe the following rules.
SECTION. 2. No :rotor vehicle of any kind shall be driven on
said causeway which is over loaded, and any motor vehicle carrying
maa-e than seven (7) persons shall be deemed prima facie over loaded
% and unsafe.
t.. SECTION 3. Any motor vehicle carrying wore than seven(7)
persons prior to its entry on said causeway shall be inspected
by the police department of the City of Clearwater, and if found
that it can safely proceed on said causeway without endangering
' the lives of its occupants and the traveling public, a permit
shall be issued by the police department of the City of Clear-

water, giving the owner or operator of said motor vehicle authority
to drive on said causeway.
SECTION 4. For each inspection made by the Police Department
they shall receive an inspection fee of the sum of One Dollar(1.00).
SECTION S. No motor vehicle of any kind shall be allowed
,;`?, to drive on said causeway in which'the occupants of said vehicle
are alleged to stand or sit on the running board, fenders, bumpers,
lights or occupy any other pl4ce in br on 'said motor vehicle
which is dangerous to,themselves and the'
traveling public.

SECTION 6. The term motor vehicle as described in this
Ordinance is defined as meaning any automobile, truck, bus,
motorcycle or any other motor vehicle of any kind or nature
whatsoever.
.. '! SFCTIuN 7. Any person, firm or corporation, or agent,
servant or employee of such who shall violate tqy of the
provisions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction in the
' Municipal Coutt be fined not exceeding the sum of One Hundred
". Dollars ($100.00), or imprisonment in the City jail not
exceeding sixty(60) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment,
in the discreation of the Municipal Judge.
This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
its
