AN ORDINANCE governing electrical construction and the
installation, waintonance and repairs of electrical wiring,
apparatus or equipment for light, heat ur power, in the City of.
f Cl.earwator.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Commissioners of the City of,
Clearwater:
Section 1. That the following rules and regulations be and
the spore are hereby adopted for the installation, mmintenence

ahd repairs of electrical wining, apparatus or equipment for
light, heat or power within the limits of the City of Clearwater,
as-,they are now or mny hereafter be established.
Section 2. It shall be required of every person or firm
obtaining an Electrical Constructions license, be fore engaging
in the business, to pay to the City Clerk the feo, as proscribed
for such business, and to execute a bond payable to the City
of Clearwater in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars (500.00)
with a responsible surety Company authorized to do business in
the State of Florida as surety conditioned to protect said City
against all loss or damage occasioned by the negligence of the
principal therein failing to properly execute and protect all
work done by him, or his employees or under his direction or
supervision, and from all loss or damage occasionde by, or
arising in any manner from any such work done by said principal
or his employees or under his direction or supervision. Said
bond shall be approved by the City Manager of said City beBore
it becomes effective, and may be used by said City in any Court
of competent jurisdiction.
Section 3. A permit will be required to do any Electrical
construction of any character, install any electrical wiring,
apparatus or equipment or make any extensions or changes to
existing wiring systems, for lights, heat or power excepting the
repairing of damaged or broken fixtures, apparatus or equipment and
the ordinary work necessary for the proper maintenance of same.

Inspector until the following inspection fee shall have been paid
to the City Clark.
Am Inspection fee of one Dollar ($1.00) shall be charged and

When a permit is not applied for until after the day on which
work is started, all fees sha13 be automatically doubled.
Section 5. All Electrical construction, and all materials
and appliances used in connection with the installation, main-
tenance, and operation of Electrical apparatus or ,equipment for
light heat or powers within the limits of Clearwater shall
conform to such special rules and regulations as may be embodied
in this or other ordinances of the City of Clearwater, and to the
rules, regulations and recommeridations of the National Board of
Fire Underwriters for the installation of wiring and apparatus
for Electrical purposes as they are now established or may
hereafter be amended, and such rules, regulations and recommen-
dations are hereby adopted and approved as a part of this
ordinance.
Section 6. Approved instal conduit shall be required for all
wires used to conduct current for lights, heat or power, in the
wiring of new buildings, the rewiring of d.a buildings, or
additions therein within the fire limits of the City as they
now are or may hereafter be established, and in churches, schools,
theaters, or public buildings or commmrcial buildings, outside
the fire limits but within the City limits of the City of
Clearwater.
Section 7. All service switohes shall have sufficient number

j Section 9. On all conduit jobs in the City of Clearwater where
conduits is to be concealed in earth, brick, or concrete, conduit
i must be of an approved galvanized type.
Section 10. Metal keys or keglers sockets must not be installed
or used within seven feet (7.fb.) of basins, sinks, toilets, or
bath tubs nor in any room which has a concrete floor or a floor
which is perniRntly damp, or in any location where, when operating
them, one is liable to come in contact with any grounded objecty, .`';•'i°, ', '

Section 11. In the wiring of New buil.diags or the installing'
of now wiring in old buildings or additions 3thereto, the size of
wires, the number of circuit.- required and the size of services
shall, be determined calculation figuring the various outlets as
follows: -
:. 14. Public Buildings, School Buildings, Assembly Halls, Store
' Rooms, Offices.and buildings of similar character, ceiling outlets
300 watts.
2. Residences, Ceiling outlets 1010 watts
3. Bracket outlets (all locations) 100 watts
' 4. Convenience receptacles (all locations)100 watts
;.? Section 12. Fuses must be in all cases be provided on the
house side of the meter so that if power company wishes to lock
entrance switches, owners will be able to have available fuses.
~. All fuses must be in place before a job of wiring is regarded as
complete for final Inspection.

and notices posted that same is "O.K."
When the electrical work in any building for which a pormit
has been obtained is ready for inspection, notice in writing
., properly filled in upon blanks furnished at the office of the

Electrical Inspoctor stating the location of the work, the sane of
the owner, and the name of the Electrical Contractor doing the
' work, shall be turned in to the Electrical. Inspectors Office.
After the first visit to a job or a written notice to inspect
came, itis necessary to return to reinspect any work Whether from 4
a defect or the work not being ready, the Inspector will return
only on another written notice, and aliall 'require an additional
inspection fee of One Dollar (:1.00) to be paid to the City Clerk.
After the entire completion of the WORKS A NI)TICE, the same
as the fo&egoing shall be given the Inspector for the final
Inspection, and if fie finds the work has been satisfactorily
done he shall issue a certificate of inspection.
This certificate sloes „not relieve the electrician of his
responsibility for any defective work which may have escaped the
notice of the inspector.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
furnishing electric eurretat for light, heat or power to connect
the distributing system with any installation of wiring, apparatus
or fixtures in the City of Clearwater without first having received
a copy of certificate of final inspection issued by the Electrical
Inspector.
Section 140 If any electrical contractor fails to comply
with the rules and regulations in this and any othbr rules and
regulations governing electrical work which may from time to time =
be enacted by the City Coaanissioners of the City of Clearwater
.. then he shall be notified in writing by the Electrical Inspector

section 15. Any Verson, firm or corporation, or the agent i
sorvantt or employee of such who shall violate any of the
:. provisions of this article, or refuso to comply with any order of
the Electrical Inspector given in pursuance of and ?by the
authority of this article, and the rules embraced therein, shall
upon by conviction, be punished by a fine not exceeding Two
Hundred Dollars($200.00) or by imprisonment in the City Jail or
at labor upon the Streets or. other public works of the Carty not
' exceeding ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment,
