BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Clearwater,
Florida.:
Section 1. That for the.purpose of maintaining a public library
for the Town of Clearwater, the Town Council of the Town of . , .
Clearwater is hereby authorized to levy each year continuously -
hereafter a tax upon all of the taxable property within said
Town, sufficient to raise not less than $1,000.00 each year;
Provided, that said levy shall not exceed one mill upon the dollar
of the assessed valuation of the real and personal property liable
,
for taxation in said Town.
Section 2. This authority is granted upon the express con-
dition that a site for a public library and sufficient funds for "
the erection of a librarybuilding thereon be secured before this
ordinance shall become effective.
J Section 3. The Mayor of the Town of Clearwater shall call a l
special election under the lags and ordinances of the Town, to
be participated in only by the registered Voters of the Town
who arb tax payers therein, to determine whether -or not the
'special assessmeht, as provided in this ordinance, shall become
effective. Said election shall be held on or about the lltln
day of May, A. D. 1915. The said election shall be conductdd in
accordance with the laws and ordinances of the Town providing !
for the holding of elections. The Town Council shall cause to ?.•f ? : '

Section 4. That the Town Clork of said Town, as Registration
officer, phall duly open the Registration Books of said Town for
the purpose of allowing those persons qualified as electors, as
herein provided, to register, as provided in the ordinances of

Section 5. That in the call or proclamation of the Mayor,
calling said election, three qualified electors of said town shall
be designated as inspectors of said election, and one qualified
elector shall be desig atedas Clork of said election.
Section 6. That the Town Council shall canvass the returns
of said special election in the manner now provided by ordinanc9tor
the canvassing of returns of elections and shall declare the result
thereof; and if a majority of the voters voting at said election

shall vote in favor of levying the special ta%, as, herein provided,
then it shall be the duty of the Town Council, as soon as this
ordinance becomes effective, to levy a special tax as provided
for in this ordinance, and the same shall be collected by the
Tax Collector at the same time and in the same manner as other
taxes, and shall be kept in a sepuraLte fund to be used and
expended solely for the purpose of maintaining the said public
library.
