AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
AMENDING DIVISION 2, PARKING METERS, OF ARTICLE
IV, STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING, OF CHAPTER 22,
TRAFFIC, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWAT'ER, FLORIDA, 1962, TO RENUMBER CERTAIN
SECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO
THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR THE
SEPARABILITY OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF; PROVIDING
FOR PROPER NOTICE OF PROPOSED ENACTMENT; AND
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS
ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Division 2, Parking Meters, of Article IV, Stopping,
Standing and Parking, of Chapter 22, Traffic, of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Clearwater, Florida, 1962, is hereby amended by renumbering
Sections 22-121, 22-122, 22-123, 22-124 and 22-125 to read as follows:
DIVISION 2. PARKING METERS
Seeti-ora2-121r Section 22-125. Definition of vehicle.
The word "vehicle" as used in this division shall mean any
device in, upon or by which any person or property is or
may be transported upon a street, except those operated on
rails or tracks.
Seeti4an-22-I22r Section 22-125.1 Establishment of zones;
designation of spaces.
Those certain described parts of streets in the city as may
from time to time be designated by resolution of the city
commission, are established as parking zones, and the city
manager shall cause to be installed parking meters and shall
cause parking meter spaces to be designated in accordance
with the provisions herein.
Seetion-2a-lair Section 22-125.2 Installation, operation, etc,
The City Manager is authorized to install or place parking
meters in such parking meter zones as may be created by
resolution of the city commission. Such parking meters shall
be placed upon the curb alongside of or next to individual
parking spaces to be designated as provided by such resolution;
and each parking meter shall be so set as to show or display
a signal that the parking space alongside of same is or is not
in use.
The city manager shall provide for the regulation, control,
operation and use of the parking meters provided for herein
and shall maintain such meters in good workable condition and
each parking meter shall be so set as to display a signal showing
legal parking upon the deposit of a coin or coins of the United
States therein for a period of time conforming to the parking
limit provided by ordinance, resolution, or police regulation
of the city for the part of the street upon which such meter is
placed.

Each meter shall by its device clearly get out and continue
in operation from the time of depositing such coin until the
expiration of the time fixed by ordinance, resolution or police
regulation as the parking limit for the part of the street upon
which such meter is placed.
Each meter shall also be so arranged that upon the expiration
of the parking limit it shall indicate, by a mechanical operation
and display of proper signal, that the lawful parking period as
fixed by ordinance, resolution or police regulation of the city
has expired.
Section-22-124. Section 22-125.3 Time limits, designating
by city manager.
The city manager is authorized to designate time limits for
parking at meter locations within the city for that part of the
street or area upon which or for which such meter is placed
and to designate the denomination of United States coin or
coins which may be deposited therein for the purpose of
obtaining legal parking for such period of time so designated.

Seetiowaa- Mr Section 22-125.4 How meter and space to be
used; manner of parking.
When any vehicle shall be parked in any apace alongside
of or next to which there is located, under this division, a
parking meter, the owner, operator, manager, or driver of
such vehicle shall upon entering the parking space immediately
deposit the proper coin or coins of the United States in the
parking meter alongside of or next to the parking space and
the parking space may then be used by such vehicle during the
parking limit provided by ordinance, resolution and police
regulation of the city for the part of the street in which such
parking space is located.
Any vehicle parked in any parking space in any parking
meter zone shall be parked with the front end of such vehicle
alongside of or next to the parking meter alongside of such
parking space in parallel parking spaces, and with the front
of the vehicle directed at the meter in angle or perpendicular
parking spaces, and, in either event, shall be parked within
the lines marked on the street for such parking space as pro-
vided hereafter.
The city manager, or such officers or employees of the city
as he shall select, shall place lines or marks on the curb or
on the street about or alongside of each parking meter to
designate the parking space for which such meter is to be
used and each vehicle parked alongside of or next to any parking
meter shall park within the lines or markings so established.
It shall be unlawful for any person to park any vehicle across
any such line or mark or to park such vehicle in such way that
the same shall not be within the area so designated by such
lines or markings.

Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
Section 3. Should any part or provision of this ordinance be
declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the same shall
not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any part thereof
other than the part declared invalid.
Section 4. Notice of the proposed enactment of this ordinance has
been properly advertised in a newspaper of general circulation in accordance
with Section 166.041, Florida Statutes.
Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon
its passage,
