AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
AMENDING TITLE V, UTILITIES, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES,: t
CITY OF CLEARWATER, TO INCREASE THE RATES FOR THE
COLLECTION OF GARBAGE AND TRASH AND PROVIDE FOR A
PASS THROUGH OF INCREASES OR DECREASES IN THE COUNTY r
DUMP FEE; PROVIDING FOR THE SEPARABILITY OF THE
PROVISIONS HEREOF; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF '
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE OF THE PROPOSED
ENACTMENT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR

WHEREAS, the current sanitation rates have been effective since July 7,
1983; and
WHEREAS, the Commission's goal of a self-sufficient Sanitation Division
has been largely met; and
WHEREAS, all garbage and trash In Pinellas County must, by Florida State
Law, be disposed of at the County's environmentally sound Resource Recovery
Facility; and
WHEREAS, the County's dump fee at the Resource Recovery Facility will
be $24.00 per ton compared to the $19.00 per ton County rate In 1984; and
WHEREAS, the increased cost to the City for dump fees alone will exceed
$500,000, bringing the total cost to more than $2.6 million;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section I. That subparagraph 4, Garbage and Trash Rates of subsection
(e), Rates, of Section 50.05, Deposit fees, Service charges and Rate schedule, of
Chapter 50, General, of Title V, Utilities, of the Code of Ordinances, City of
Clearwater, Is hereby amended to read as follows:
