ORDINANCE NO. 3739--84
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 35, ELECTION BOARDS, OF TITLE
III, ELECT1ONS,_ OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES,CITY
OF CLEARWATER, TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY CLERK TO
APPOINT AS MANY ELECTION BOARDS AS DEEMED NECESSARY
TO CONDUCT THE ELECTION AND TO PAY THEM COMPENSATION
EQUAL TO THE RATE PAID BY PINELLAS COUNTY; TO
REPEAL THE REQUIREMENT FOR THE PUBLICATION OF
NAMES OF INSPECTORS AND CLERKS OF ELECTION; PRO-
VIDING FOR THE SEPARABILITY OF THE PROVISIONS
HEREOF; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO
THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR PROPER
NOTICE OF PROPOSED ENACTMENT; AND PROVIDING FOR
THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That Section 35.01, Appointment, of Chapter 35,
Election Boards, of Title III, Elections, of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Clearwater, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
Sec. 35.01. Appointment.
For the purpose of carrying on and conducting
general and special elections, it shall be the
duty of the City Commission at-leaat-twenty-+20

eleetleaT to authorize the City Clerk to appoint
as many election boards as deemed necessary to
conduct the election and to a them compensation

Section 2. That Section 35.03, Publication of names of inspectors
and clerks of election, of Chapter 35, Election Boards, of Title
III, Elections, of the Code of Ordinances, City of Clearwater,
is hereby repealed in its entirety.
Section 3. Should any part or provision of this ordinance be
declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the
same shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or
any part thereof other than the part declared to be invalid.
Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
Section 5. Notice of the propposed enactment of this ordinance
has been properly advertised in a newspaper of general circulation
in accordance with Section 166.041, Florida Statutes.

Section 6. The provisions of this ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon its passage.
