ORDINANCE NO. 2612-82
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
AMENDING TITLE V, UTILITIES, OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES, CITY OF CLEARWATER, TO ADJUST FEES
FOR TAPS ON WATER MAINS TO REFLECT ACTUAL COST,
TO REVISE WATER METER CONNECTION CHARGES, AND
TO INCREASE VARIOUS SERVICE CHARGES; PROVIDING
FOR THE SEPARABILITY OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF;
PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ORDINANCES OR PARTS
OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING
FOR PROPER NOTICE OF PROPOSED ENACTMENT; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the current water meter connection charges have been
effective since August 9. 1977; and
WHEREAS, the current service charges have been effective since
October 1, 1974; and
WHEREAS, the cost of living adjustments alone in the City labor
contracts have totalled 46.5%a since October, 1974, and 38. 3% since August,
1977;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That Subparagraph (1), Water meter connection charges
and, fees for taps on the mains and fire taps on the mains; fire hydrant
installation charges, of Subsection (d), Connection charges, fees and taps on
mains, of Section 50. 05, Deposit, fees, service charges and rate schedule,
of Chapter 50, In General, of Title V, Utilities, of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Clearwater, is hereby amended to read as follows:
(1) Water meter connection charges and fees for taps
on the mains and fire taps on the mains; fire hydrant
installation charges:

Fire Hydrant Installation
Charge for furnishing and installing one fire hydrant
exclusive of the required tap and charge for such tap $ 550.00
Section 2. That Paragraph c, Lawn water meters, of Subparagraph
(I j, Water rates, of Subsection (e), Rates, of Section 50. 05, Deposit, fees,
service charges and rate schedule, of Chapter 50, In General, of Title V,
Utilities, of the Code of Ordinances, City of Clearwater, is hereby amended
to read as follows:
(e) ]Rates:
(1) Water rates. Water rates for all water furnished
by the city utilities department under the different
schedules shall be'as follows:
c. Lawn water meters. Lawn water meters al-ready,
*r}qHnwiee shall be charged the regular domestic rate
for water used for irrigation purposes in accordance
with the ordinances of the city. When combined with
the domestic meter on the same bill, the rate shall
be at Seventy-eight cents ($0. 78) per one hundred
(100) cubic feet. When on a separate bill, the rate
will be charged the regular domestic rate depending
on the ,size of the meter.

Section 3. That Subsection (f), Service charges, of Section 50. 05,
Deposit, fees, service charges and rate schedule, of Chapter 50, In General,
of Title V, Utilities, of the Code of Ordinances, City of Clearwater, is hereby
amended to read as follows:
(f) Service charges:
(1) Applicable during normal working hours:
a. Turn On (Includes initial light up only,
does not include any service.):

(4} Commercial installation:
a, Ten'dollara ($10.00) per manj>e-x-kieur per one-half
IUD hour for one (1) man and truck, ten dollar
` ($10.00) minimum.
b. 'Fifteen dollars ($15.00) per4wup er one-half 1/2
hour for two (2) men and truck, fifteen dollar ($15.00)

Section 4. That Subparagraph (1), Water, temporary service, of
Subsection (g), Miscellaneous service charges and rate schedule, of Chapter
50, In General, of Title V, Utilities, of the Code of Ordinances, City of
Clearwater, is hereby amended to read as follows:
(g) Miscellaneous service charges:
(1) Water, temporary service:
a. Deposit: Three hundred dollars ($300.00) or
one sufficient to cover cost of water consumed
and any other charges incurred. Final bill:
Cost of water consumed, plus a twenty-five dollar
($25.00) service charge.
b. Unauthorized pipe: Where water meter should be,
twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for removal.
c. Bypass: Ten (10) per cent of average monthly bill
for each day since last reading.
d. Broken stop locks on water meters: Ten dollars ($10.00).
e. To relocate water meter; Time and material.
f. Unauthorized use of fire h drants: Fifty dollars
($50.00).
Section 5. Should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this
ordinance be' declared for any reason to be invalid, the same shall not affect
the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any part thereof other than the
part declared to be invalid.
Section 6. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
Section 7. Notice of the proposed enactment of this ordinance has
been properly advertised in a newspaper of general circulation in accordance
with Section 166.041, Florida Statutes.
Section 8.. This ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its passage.
