ORDINANCE NO 222
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 24, UTILITIES SYSTEM, OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
1962, TO REQUIRE CERTAIN ESTABLISHMENTS TO MAIN-
TAIN ALL GREASE TRAPS LOCATED ON THE PREMISES
AND TO OBTAIN A MAINTENANCE CARD ANNUALLY FROM
THE CLEARWATER BUILDING DEPARTMENT; TO PROVIDE
THAT UPON NOTICE AND AT REASONABLE TIMES, THE
PLUMBING INSPECTOR MAY INSPECT SUCH GREASE TRAPS;
TO PROVIDE FOR REPEAL OF ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT
OF SUCH CONFLICT; TO PROVIDE FOR THE SEPARABILITY
OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF; TO PROVIDE FOR PROPER
NOTICE OF PROPOSED ENACTMENT; AND TO PROVIDE
FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 24-62, Obstruction of Flow Prohibited, of
Article IV, Wastewater, of Chapter 24, Utilities System, of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Clearwater, Florida, 1962, is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Section 24-62. Obstruction of Flow Prohibited.
No person shall do any act or thing which may impair or
obstruct the flow of any public wastewater system or storm
sewer system or clog up any appurtenance thereof, or place
therein any substance, solid or liquid, other than the waste
products for which sewers are provided.
All hospitals, nursing homes 'ails restaurants where
food is prepared for consumption or distribution shall be
required to maintain all grease traps located on the premises
so that such traps are clean and functioning. The premises
or business where such grease trap is located shall be re uired
to maintain a maintenance card obtained from the City of
Clearwater Building Department on the remises. Such card
shall be obtained annually and shall be resented or shown
to the Plumbing Inspector on request.
Upon notice and at reasonable times the owner or ro rietor
of the ro er shall make each grease tra on the property
o en and available for internal inspection b the Plumbing
Inspector.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.

Section 3. Should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this
ordinance be declared for any reason to be invalid, the same shall not affect
the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any part thereof other than the
part declared to be invalid.
Section 4. Notice of the proposed enactment'of this ordinance has
been properly advertised in a newspaper of general circulation in accordance
with Section 166.04I, Florida Statutes.
Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon
its passage and adoption.
