Kt:•.-,..•.....-.',:r>, . ? .. _ i,•: ':,t.. ?.... s ORDINANCE NO. 4782-89 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, RELATING TO POLICE PENSIONS; AMENDING SECTION 26.65(a), CODE OF ORDINANCES, REDUCING THE RATE OF THE EXCISE TAX ON CASUALTY INSURANCE COMPANIES, CORPORATIONS OR OTHER INSURERS COLLECTING PREMIUMS ON CASUALTY INSURANCE POLICIES COVERING PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature has amended Section 185.08, Florida Statutes, to reduce the tax rate which may be assessed upon casualty insurance premiums for the benefit of municipal police officer pensions from 1% to 0.85% of the gross amount of casualty insurance premiums received; and WHEREAS, it is otherwise necessary to amend Section 26.65(a), Code of Ordinances, in order to eliminate Inconsistencies between that section and Section 185.08, Florida Statutes, as amended; now therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA: Section 1. Subsection (a) of Section 26.65, Code of Ordinances, Is amended to read: See. 26.65. Excise tax on casualty insurance premiums insurers. (a) In addition to any other lawful license or excise tax now levied by the city, an excise or4#eense tax is assessed and imposed on every Insurance company, corporation or other insurer now engaged in or carrying on, or who shall hereafter engage in or carry on, the business of casualty insurance insuring as shown by the records of the Florida De artment of Insurance state-treasurer-ia-his-eapaeRy-e scat'e4nouranee-eemmissi-ener, in the amount of 0.85 one per cent of the gross amount of receipts of premiums from policyholders on all premiums collected on casualty insurance policies covering property within the corporate limits of the city. In the case of multiple peril policies with a sinFrle premium for both property and casualty coverages_ln such policies. 30 per cent of such premium shall be used as the basis for the tax. Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
