ORDINANCE NO. 4168-86
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
RELATING TO THE UTILITY SYSTEM; AMENDING SECTION
50.05(f), CODE OF ORDINANCES, TO INCREASE VARIOUS
SERVICE CHARGES; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the current service charges have been effective since February 4,
1982; and
WHEREAS, system service revenues covered just 26% of system service costs in
FY 85; and
WHEREAS, repairs and service revenues covered just 67% of repairs and service
costs in FY 85; and
WHEREAS, additional costs are paid by all gas customers while service charges
are paid mostly by seasonal customers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMJSSION OF
THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That Subsection (f) of Section 50.05, Code of Ordinances, is amended
to read:
Sec. 50.05. Deposits, fees, service charges and rate schedule.
(f) Service charges:
(1) Applicable during normal working hours:
a. Turn on (includes initial light up only, does not Include any service):
1. Gas meter (per meter) $40:00 $20.00
2. Water meter (per meter) 6790 15.00

(2) The above charges will be doubled 4nereased one hundred {109) peeeent for
emergency services between 5:00 p.m, and 8:00 a.m. on workdays and all
day during holidays and weekends.
(3) Domestic service charge:
Thirteen dollars ($13.00) Ten dollars 41"0 per man per one-half hour
with a twenty-six dollar ($26,00) ten-doh {$19;09} minimum.
(4) Commercial installation:
a. Thirteen dollars ($13.00) Teri dollars {$19;99} per man per one-half
hour for one man and a truck, with a twenty--six dollar ($26.00) ter:-

b. Twenty-six dollars ($26.00) F+ teen deHers ($16:99) per one-half hour
for two (2) men and a truck, with a twenty-six dollar ($26.00) £1€4een-

minimum for repair and installation.

(5) Mileage Charge:
A mileage charge of fifty cents ($.50) per mile will be added to all service
calls outside the original gas service area. The original gas service area Is
bounded on the south b Ulmerton Road on the west b the Gulf of
Mexico on the north b Curlew Road and on the east b Tampa Ha and
the Lake Tarpon Canal.
(6) Special Seasonal Gas Turn-on:
The Utilities Director Is authorized to reduce the gas turn-on charge by not
more than 50% during a period beginning not earlier than September 1 and
ending not later than November 30, as determined by the Utilities
Director, in order to encourage early turn-on and to reduce the workload at
the beginning of the heating season.
Section 2. This ordinance shrill take effect immediately upon adoption.
