Traffic �perations Manager Paul Bertels reviewed a suggestion ta temporarily remove parking on ane side of C1eve�and Street to provide faur lanes ot traffic. He reported the FDOT {Flarida Department of Transportatianl project manager is not inte�ested, in a tamporary extensinn of the right turn lane into Island �states due to �ermitting problems relateci ta tha remavai af mangroves. Mr. Morris has a meeting scheduleci with the Coast G�ard regarding a quick flasf� at the enc! of the jetty. The Coast Guard has recomme�ded the City install and maintain�the light. The City wants tha Coast Guard to accept that . responsibility. � m !t was sta#�d the Sheriffs Department, Coast Guard, and Florida Marine Patro! hava expressed concern wake buoys, west of the Clearwater Pass Bridge and often submerged by the current, are hazardaus. � � Member Kelley moved to r�quest Pin�lias County ta replace buoys often submerged by the current with ones that float properly. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. The Chair will write a lett�r to the City Commissian regarding this issue, Concern was expressed tl7e PoHce Department did not respond to a cail that � sn intaxicated transient boater had tied up ta the Marina af#er business hours. Mr. . � M�rris said the Police Department can respnnd if signage w�th the related ordinance is visiblo. Additianal �signs may be needed. It was felt the Coast Guard should not have to handle these types o# issues. It was stated oil prices are increasing ar�d a� oif embargo is possibls.
