" .' . i . + ~ -- TRUSTEES OF THE EMPLOYEES' PENSION FUND MEETING July 14, 1997 The City Commission of the City of Clearwater, meeting as the Board of Trustees of the Employees' Pension Fund, met in regular session at City Hall, Monday, July 14, 1997 at 1 :14 P.M., with the following members present: Rita Garvey J. Akin Cynthia E, Goudeau Chairperson Trustee Trustee Trustee , City Manager City Attorney City Clerk Absent: Ed Hooper Trustee ITEM #2 - Minutes: Trustee Seel moved to approve the minutes of the June 16, 1997, meeting. ITEM #4 - Request for Pension: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee that William J, Shepard be granted a regular pension under Section(s) 2,393 and 2.397 of the Employees' Pension Plan, William J, Shepard was employed on April 2, 1962, and his pension service credit is effective on that date. His pension will be effective on July 1, 1998. Mr, Shepard's pension was approved by the PAC on June 12, 1997, Section 2,393 (p) provides for normal retirement eligibility when a participant has reached age 55 and completed twenty years of credited service or has completed thirty years of credited service, Mr. Shepard qualifies under both criteria. Based on an average salary of approximately $48,954 per year over the past five years, the formula for computing reg\Jlar pensions, and Mr. Shepard's selection of the f~ 100% Joint & Survivor Annuity, this pension will approximate $47,285 annually. Trustee Seel moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #5 - Request for Pension: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee that Richard D. Berry be granted a regular pension under Section(s) 2,393 and 2.397 of the Employees' Pension Plan. Richard D. Beery was employed on November 4, 1974, and his pension service credit is effective on May 4, 1975, His pension will be effective on July 1, 1998, Mr. Berry's pension was approved by the PAC on June 12, 1997. Section 2,393 (p) provides for normal retirement eligibility when a participant has completed twenty years of credited service in a type of employment described as hhazardous duty" and further specifically defines service as a Police Officer as meeting the hazardous duty criteria. Based on an average salary of approximately $62,511 per year over the past five years, the formula for computing regular pensions, and Mr, Berry's selection of the life Annuity, this pension will approximate $42,967 annually. o mpf0797 2 07/14/97 .". The motion was dUly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #6 - Reauest for Pension: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee that William L. Goatcher be granted a regular pension under Section(s) 2.393 and 2,397 of the Employees' Pension Plan, William L. Goatcher was employed on January 7, 1974, and his pension service credit is effective on * January 7, 1974, His pension will be effective on November 1, 1997. Mr, Goatcher's pension was approved by the PAC on June 12, 1997. Section 2.393 (p) provides for normal retirement eligibility when a participant has completed twenty years of credited service in a type of employment described as "hazardous duty" and further specifically defines service as a Police Lieutenant as meeting the hazardous duty criteria, Based on an average salary of approximately $55,894 per year over the past five years, the formula for computing regular pensions, and Mr, Goatcher's selection of the 100% Joint & Survivor Annuity, this pension will approximate $35,623 annually. ilf~1la f\'!,tI Trustee See I moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee, The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
