The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #4 - ReQuest for Pension: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee that Althea Andersen be granted a regular pension under Section(s) 2.393 and 2.397 of the Employees' Pension Plan. Althea Andersen was employed on June 6, 1972, and her pension service credit is effective on that date. Her retirement will be effective on May 1, 1997. Ms. Andersen's pension was approved by the PAC on June 13, 1996. Section 2.393 (p) defines normal retirement date as when a participant reaches age 55 and has completed twenty years of credited service or when the participant has completed thirty years of credited service regardless of age. Ms. Andersen is eligible under the age 55 and twenty years of service criteria. Trustee Clark moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. "." ~( t~:;) ITEM #5 - ReQuest for Pension: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee that Roy C. Sattinger be granted a regular pension under Section{s) 2.393 and 2.397 of the Employees' Pension Plan. Roy C. Settinger was employed on October 29, 1973, and his pension service credit is effective on April 30, 1974. At the time of Mr. Sattinger's employment, pension deductions for employees were not immediately commenced. SUbsequently, when employees were provided an opportunity to make up pension contributions, he did not elect to do so. His retirement will be effective on July 1. 1 997. Mr. Sattinger's pension was approved by the PAC on June 13, 1996. Section 2.393 (p) defines normal retirement date as when a participant reaches age 55 and has completed twenty years of credited service or when the participant has completed thirty years of credited service regardless of age. Mr. Sattinger is eligible under the age 55 and twenty years of service criteria. Trustee Johnson moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. " ,., ITEM #6 - Request for Pension: ,0' The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension' Advisory Committee that Basil W. Reid be granted a regular pension under Section(s} 2.393 and 2.397 of the Employees' Pension Plan. Basil W. Reid was employed on June 20, 1977, and his pension service credit is etfec'dve on that date. His retirement will be effective on July 1, 1997. Mr. Reid's pension was approved by the PAC on June 13, 1996. Section 2.393 (p) defines normal retirement date as when a participant reaches age 55 and has completed twenty years of credited service or when the participant has completed thirty years of credited service regardless of age. Mr. Reid is eligible under the age 55 and twenty years of service criteria. Trustee Seel moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #7 - Request for Pension: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee that Dennis L. Angelo be granted a regular pension under Section(s) 2.393 and 2.397 of the Employees' Pension Plan. .;,ii'4'~ t ,'1r1J Dennis L. Angelo was employed on April 8, 1974, and his pension service credit is effective on that date. His retirement will be effective on August 1, 1996. Mr. Angelo's pension was approved by the PAC on June 13, 1996. Section 2.393 (p) provides for normal retirement eligibility when a participant has completed twenty years of credited service in a type of employment described as "hazardous duty" and further specifically defines service as a Police Officer as meeting the hazardous duty criteria. Trustee Hooper moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #8 - Request To Vest Pension: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee to approve the request of Carolyn Carrasquillo to vest her pension under Section{sJ 2.397 and 2.398 of the Employees' Pension Plan. Carolyn Carrasquillo was employed on June 19, 1978, and her pension service credit is effective on that date. Ms. Carrasquillo resigned from City employment effective July 5, 1996. L" ~"' . < " ' ," ," ~ The Employees' Pension Plan provides that should an employee cease to be an , employee of the City of Clearwater after completing 10 or more years of creditable service (pension participation), then such employee shall acquire a vested interest in the retirement benefits. Vested pension payments commence at the time the employee normally would have been eligible for retirement. Ms. Carrasquillo would have completed 20 years of service on June 19, 1998, in a hazardous duty position. Her request to vest her pension was approved by the PAC on June 13, 1996, and will be effective July 1, 1998. Trustee See I moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was dUly seconded and carried unanimously: ITEM #9 - Other Business: Trustee Hooper questioned if the Trustees had directed that all calculations regarding pensions to be granted no longer be included in the information provided. He thought only the calculations for estimated total payout and present value were to be discontinued.
