" Mr. Stuart Williams, Sign Inspector Mrs. Delores Marshall, Utility Inspector The meeting was called to order by Chairman W. H. Brown, Sr. at 7:35 P. M. Minutes of the previous meeting of February 18, 1981 were approved by unanimous decision. Purpose of this meeting was to consider the following case: Request by Lane Company of 2280 U.S. Hwy. 19 North, Suite 228, Clearwater, Florida 33515 to install a ground sign at 2472 U. S. Hwy. 19 North, Village at Countryside, zoned CP, approximately 1,000 feet south of an existing ground sign. Mr. Larry Pa~gett, representatiye, ot the Seattle S~n Company, presented the case "tor the Lane Company. The 'one s~n at this shopping center now- identities only Leed's- St'ore.' Tenants who' have Inov'ed into the center as phase two of construct~on' has been completed want sign properly identifying the" "center' as Village at Countryside. Shoppers are now in- correctly identifying t~s as the' Leed's Shopping Center. An additional sign on the property would be in violation of Ordinance #1404 which per- mit s only one 'ground sign per R/W ;f'or property Zoned CP. Mr. Padgett responded to Mr. Brown's question stating that sign would be lit but would not be overly-bright or garish. Also'sign would be in good taste and blend in with the surrounding area. In response to Mr. Lutents questions, presently about, ten leased stores involved, and shopping center occupies approx"iJnately 2,000 fee't on U. S. Ifwy. 19. Mrs. Horne questioned whether present Leed's sign could not be expanded to include correct name of center and additional businesses involved and was ad- .,' vised Leed' s sign would not be 'adaptable for this purpose. ~Mr. Leist made motion that the request ;f'or variance be granted. Motion seconded by Mr. Luten. Mr. Leist, Mrs. Blidsoe, Mr. Luten and Mrs. Horne voted aye. Mr. Brown abstained. Variance 'was granted. Meeting adjourned at 7:50 P. M.
