CHARITY SOLICITATIONS BOARD
August 11, 1976
The meeting opened at 1:45 P.M., with the following
present:
Guy L. Kennedy, Jr., Chairman

The Chairman called the meeting to order and reviewed the
Christian Youth Sports, Inc. application, which is doing business
as Florida Jr. Gators. Mr. Robert W. Jones, representing the
organization, was present and explained that they expected to
change their name to the Florida Jr. Gators in the very near
future as it was a better connotation of football. He also said
that the group was composed of about 175 boys and 70 girls to
act as cheer leaders. A discussion ensued about the debts of
the organization. Chief Daniels moved to approve the application
of the Christian Youth Sports, Inc. for a 1 day solicitation
August 14, 1976 and that the 15 day time requirement be waived.
Mr. Ort seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
The next application was that of the Gulf Coast Lung
Association, Inc. for solicitation from October 15, 1976 to
January 31, 1977. The chairman reviewed the application and
questions were brought up about their financial statement.
Chief Daniels moved that no action be taken at this time and
that a representative be present at the next meeting to explain
their financial statement to the Board. Mr. Ort seconded the
motion which carried unanimously.
The next application was that of the Kiwanis Club of
Clearwater for Peanut Days, July 9 and 10, 1976, which had
previously been approved verbally and was now being presented
for confirmation. Mr. Ort moved that the application of the
Kiwanis Club of Clearwater, which had been previOUSly approved
verbally, be confirmed and that the 15 day time requirement be
waived. Chief Daniels seconded the motion Which carried
unanimously.

, The application of the Ame~ican Legion Auxiliary Post 7
to sell poppies on May 28 and 29, 1976, which had been previously
approved verbally, was now being presented for confirmation. ,
Mr. Ort moved to confirm the verbal approval of the application
of American Legion Auxiliary Post 7. Chief Daniels seconded the
motion which ca~ried unanimous~y.
It was announced that Larry W. Lord, who was secretary of
the board, is no longer a member and therefore it was necessary
to n~e a new secreta~y. Mr. Douglas Ort was named secretary
of the Charity Solicitation Board by a unanimous ballot being
cast for him by Chief Daniels.
The Chairman presented the minutes of the meeting of
April 20, 1976 for approval. Hearing no objections he declared
the minutes approved in accordance with copies submitted in
writing to the members.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at
2:30 P.M.
