"+'."~, ISi fit CHARITY SOLICITATIONS BOARD October 10, 1973 The meeting opened at 2:10 P.M. with the following present: Guy L. Kennedy, Jr, Chairman Larry W. Lord, Secretary Chester B. McMullen, Jr. R. G. Whitehead Representing City Attorney Jr. Chamber of Commerce Chamber of Commerce City Clerk Absent: Rev. Thomas M. Johnston Frank Daniels Ministerial Association Police Chief .e The. application of the Gulf Coast TB and Respiratory Disease Association was reviewed by the Chairman. Mr. Raymond Taylor, Managing Director of the Association, was present and explained some of the new financial arrangements. He indicated that their lists of prospective donors were being put on computer tape by the National Organization and that each local group was to pay their share of the new procedure. .He indicated that anticipated expenses for the coming drive were 'about $33,000 plus about $3,000 to go to National for conversion of lists. They anticipated raising about $215,000 and therefore the ratio of costs to receipts were expected to be about 17 per cent. Mr~ McMullen moved to approve the application of above named organization to solicit funds during the period of October 17 to December 31, 1973. Mr. Lord seconded the motion which carried unanimously. The application of the City Center Ballet Inc., to sell raffle tickets from October 15 to December 31, 1973, was reviewed by the Chairman. Mrs. Gladys Maglio and Mrs. Sven Ronne were present and in answer to questions stated that there were 29 girls in the program, and that the number shown on the appli- cation was their sales tax exemption number and not the state charity registration number. After considerable discussion relating to whether the application was properly before the Board, Mr. Lord moved that the 15 day requirement be waived and that the application be approved, but such approval did not constitute an opinion or approval as to the legality of raffling off a car. Mr. McMullen seconded the motion which carried unanimously. ':\! I'e, . Mr. McMullen moved that the approval of the applications of the above organizations be confirmed. Mr. Lord seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
