The application of the Multiple Sclerosis Society which had
been deferred until this date was presented for consideration.
Mrs. Eloise Cozens, Executive Director of the Gulf Coast
Chapter. and Mr. Robert E. McWeeney, the State Director, were
present. Mr. McWeeney stated that the 1965 campaign was the
first time a full campaign had been conducted in Clearwater
and the costs were higher than normal. He stated that his
job as State Director is to bring down costs, increase
efficiency and increase the income for the Society. He said
that he was aiming for costs of 10 to 14%. He also stated
that it was now too late for a door to door campaign, that
~hey would not use telephone operators this year, but will
use a mail campaign containing stamps for contributors to
use. In view of this statement Mrs. Cozens amended the
application, upon the Board's request, to cover a mail
solicitation only this year. The Board discussed both the
local and national costs and told the representative that
they were looking forward with interest to the future costs,
both local and national. Mr. Kennedy moved to grant the
amended request covering mail solicitation only from June 19th
to June 22nd, for the Gulf Coast Chapter, National Multiple
Sclerosis Society. Mr. Donahey seconded the motion which
carried unanimously.
