Dribben Joseph G. Donahey, Jr. Guy L. Kennedy, Jr. R. G. Whitehead Ministerial Association Police Chief Chamber of Commerce Jr. Chamber of Commerce Representing City Attorney City Clerk The Chairman called the meeting to order at 2 P.M. Mr. Dribben moved that the minutes of the meeting of April 25th, 1966 be approved in accordance with copies submitted to each Board member in writing. Motion was seconded by Mr. Kennedy and carried unanimously. '0 The application of the Multiple Sclerosis Society which had been deferred until this date was presented for consideration. Mrs. Eloise Cozens, Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Chapter. and Mr. Robert E. McWeeney, the State Director, were present. Mr. McWeeney stated that the 1965 campaign was the first time a full campaign had been conducted in Clearwater and the costs were higher than normal. He stated that his job as State Director is to bring down costs, increase efficiency and increase the income for the Society. He said that he was aiming for costs of 10 to 14%. He also stated that it was now too late for a door to door campaign, that ~hey would not use telephone operators this year, but will use a mail campaign containing stamps for contributors to use. In view of this statement Mrs. Cozens amended the application, upon the Board's request, to cover a mail solicitation only this year. The Board discussed both the local and national costs and told the representative that they were looking forward with interest to the future costs, both local and national. Mr. Kennedy moved to grant the amended request covering mail solicitation only from June 19th to June 22nd, for the Gulf Coast Chapter, National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Mr. Donahey seconded the motion which carried unanimously. I..:':'~ W The Board instructed the City Clerk to write to the Solicitation Boards of Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville and Miami where the Society has chapters requesting financial reports accompanying the applications of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. The application of the American National Red Cross, Upper Pine lIas Chapter, for a special emergency campaign, was pre- sented for consideration. Mr. Dribben moved to approve the application of the American National Red Cross, Upper Pinellas Chapter.
