CHARITY SOLICITATIONS BOARD
January 10, 1964
The meeting opened at 1:45 P.M. with the following present:
Joseph L. Coggan, Chairman Jr. Chamber of Commerce
Willis Booth, Secretary Police Chief
Irving W. Dribben Chamber of Commerce
Rev. C. M. Harris Ministerial Association
Guy L. Kennedy, Jr. Asst. City Attorney
R. G. Whitehead City Clerk
The Chairman called the meeting to order, and announced that
the meeting was called to hear a representative from Girls
Town of America give further information as to their application.
Mr. Raymond E. Weiss, State Director, Girls Town of America, ,
was present and gave a resume of the organization and indicated
that the Dresent facilities were inadequate as they can take
care of only about 12 girls at present and sorely need new
facilities. He further stated that the organization had been
in operation about 17 years but was only incorporated in
February 19609 that they receive no funds from the United
Fund and that the only requirement for admission is that the
girl or woman needs help.
After further discussion the Board,by consent requested Mr.
Weiss to furnish a financial statement of the organization, ?
amend the dates of the solicitation and furnish information
as to the background and occupation of the Officers, Board
of Directors and the Advisory Committee. Mr. Weiss indicated
he would comply at his earliest opportunity.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at
2:45 P.M.
