' .... ~ . ~:I CHARITY SOLICITATIONS BOARD March 1, 1962 ~, The meeting opened at 2:00 P.M. with the following present: f~ Mrs. E. J. Daniel Joseph L. Coggan Rev. C. M. Harris Guy L. Kennedy, Jr. R. G. Whitehead Chamber of Commerce Jr. Chamber of Commerce Ministerial Association Asst. City Attorney City Clerk Mrs. Daniel, Chairman, called the meeting to order and welcomed Rev. Harris as a new member of the Boa~d. Mr. Kennedy moved that the minutes of the meeting of January 18, 1962 be approved in accord~ ance with copies submitted to each board member in writing. Motion was seconded by Mr. Coggan and carried unanimously. The application of the Clearwater Forest #166, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, was presented for consideration. Mr. Andrew Loeffler, representing the organization, was present and explained that all proceeds of the solicitation went to muscular dystrophy research. Mr. Coggan moved that the application of the Clearwater Forest #166, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, be approved. Rev. Harris seconded the motion . which carried unanimOUSly. The application of the Upper Pinellas Chapter, American National Red Cross, which had previously been approved verbally was pre- sented for confirmation. Mr. Kennedy moved to confirm the approval ,~ of the application of the Upper Pinellas Chapter, American National fn~ Red Cross. Mr. Coggan seconded the motion which carried unanimously. ');" ~ '<" w , \ The application of the American Cancer Society, which had previously been approved verbally, was presented for confirmation. Mr. Coggan moved to confirm the approval of the application of the American Cancer Society. Rev. Harris seconded the motion which carried unanimously. Mr. vfuitehead, City Clerk, reported that Chief Booth had called him' relating to the Police Department picking up four colored youths soliciting funds for leukemia. It was found that no permit had been granted by the Board and neither Chief Booth nor Nr. Whitehead had been able so far to find who was sponsoring the drive. Mr. Kennedy moved that Chief Booth submit a report on any information he had been able to obtain'I'elating to the leukemia drive at the next meeting. Mr. Coggan seconded the motion which carried unani- mously.
