CHARITY SOLICITATIONS BOARD

~ Chairman Titzel called the meeting to order. Chief Booth moved that
the minutes of' the meeting of October 15th, 1959, be approved in
accordance ~dth copies submitted to each board member in writing.
Motion was seconded by Reverend Waller and carried unanimously.
The application of the Salvation Army for their 1959 Christmas Cheer
Program and also the 1960 annual maintenance and building campaign
was considered. Captain Broadstreet and Commissioner Allan were
present. Mr. Williams moved that the application be approved. Chief
Booth seconded the motion which carried unanimOUSly.
A letter from ~ws. Trahan, National Adjutant of the Navy Mothern Club
of America was read explaining the reason for solicitation f'unds in
f'ull being sent to the National Organization and then returned to the
local club. Reverend Waller moved to confirm the verbal approval
previously given. Chief Booth seconded the motion which carried unani-
mously.
The application of the Muscular Dystrophy Association was presented.
Reverend Waller moved to confirm the October 26th verbal denial of this
application. . Chief Booth seconded the motion which carried unanimOUSly.

The application of the Clearwater Evening Lions Club to solicit adver-
tising for a newspaper was considered. ~ws. Daniel moved that while
the application might not properly be within the jurisdiction of the
Charity Ordinance, that the application be approved for record. Chief
Booth seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
The application of the Christmas Cheer Fund, Inc., ~'las next considered.
Rever~nd Waller moved that the application be approved. ~~s. Daniel
seconded the motion Which carried unanimously.
The final application to be considered was that of the Adventist Church
Welfare Society. I.ws. Daniel moved that the application did not come
under the Charity Ordinance. Chief Booth seconded the motion which
~ carried unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:05 P.M.
